About Russ & Daughters

Russ & Daughters is a restaurant known for its fresh and delicious food, offering a delightful experience for visitors. Although the bagels have been described as smaller than some, they are flavorful and manageable for a single meal. The pastrami salmon is particularly praised for its juiciness and well-cured, more flavorful taste. The sturgeon is noted as meaty, lean, and not dry, offering a delightful umami flavor. The whitefish bagel is considered an excellent choice, and the pretzel bagel with olive cream cheese is extremely flavorful but a bit too salty. Latkes are nice but not too crispy and very oily. The sesame bagel with caviar cream cheese and matzo ball soup are both excellent, with the soup being piping hot.

The restaurant is popular, with lines that move quickly. The staff is known for their attentiveness to details, such as respecting "the Schmear" and providing thoughtful packaging. The counter resembles a "fish heaven," and the atmosphere is enhanced by modern vibes and neon lights. Customers appreciate the friendly service, making it a recommended spot for both tourists and locals alike. The location is beautiful, clean and the service is great. The customized service is also appreciated, including recommendations, suggested alternatives due to cut of the salmon, and notifying customers about special seasons like Holland herring season.

We entered, took our ticket numbers (like the ones you see at the grocery stores), and waited for our turn. Luckily, not too many others also waited to order, so my number got called in a few minutes.

I ordered the Super Heebster bagel sandwich with whitefish & baked salmon salad, horseradish-dill cream...read full review
