Way back in the early 80s, my mother sent me to the “deli” to pick up some “suprasat” (soppresatta) and a loaf of bread. I picked up the meat and the bread and stepped out of the store and realized it was 2023! Russo’s takes you back to the good old days, before the generic supermarkets offering the same repackaged products. Opened in 1908 and about 300 square foot but packs a mighty punch. Don’t miss out on the time capsule with the best mozzarella cheese I’ve ever had. To be in business that long is just beyond incredible. Please do yourself a favor and check out this place. It’s just amazing and the bread….dont even get me started.

100+ yrs old, Italian stalwart in East Village. Highly recommend their massive sandwiches that use their homemade mozz and pesto. You can always ask to add pesto to sandwiches that don't have them.
