About Sushi Ryusei

Sushi Ryusei is a popular sushi restaurant known for offering an authentic and enjoyable dining experience. Customers praise the food for its high quality, especially highlighting the fish’s freshness and the subtle sweetness of the rice. The seared black cod and shirako are standout dishes, and the sushi chefs are highly skilled. The restaurant has a cozy, intimate atmosphere that feels traditional and welcoming, suitable for both casual visits and special occasions. The staff, including the sushi chef and Japanese owners, provide attentive and friendly service, often going the extra mile—such as sending small complimentary bites like shishito and a fried fish as a thoughtful gesture when service pacing is uneven. Guests appreciate the opportunity to interact with the chef and enjoy conversations at the sushi bar. The menu features a variety of dishes, including sushi, age dashi tofu, tempura udon, karaage chicken, and miso clam soup, all praised for their authenticity. The restaurant also offers a decent sake selection to complement the meal. Visitors note that the fish is always fresh and prepared with traditional techniques, with favorites like Spicy Tuna, Tatsuta Age, and Salmon Yuzu Soy. The presentation is visually appealing, and the food remains consistently top-tier from start to finish. Many find that the restaurant’s prices are fair compared to others in the city. Overall, Sushi Ryusei remains a hidden neighborhood gem, worth visiting for those seeking high-quality sushi in a cozy, sophisticated setting.

Fabulous, in every way.
Kinoko was amazing, deluxe sushi plate included more sashimi than advertised, including rarities like snapper and 3 different grades of tuna. Reasonably priced saki and the matcha tiramisu was decadent with perfect lady fingers.

One of the best sushi meals of my life.

Best sushi I’ve had in NYC. Hurry before you can’t get in!

Excellent sushi.
