Honestly I cannot believe that I’ve never noticed this place. I thought I knew every corner of Hamilton Heights since this is the neighborhood where I grew up and still live. I noticed this beautiful hidden treasure. If you know me you know that I am Obsessed with desserts. And sweet potato pie is one of my weakness. Sweet Chef Southern-Style Bakery is a neighborhood staple that keeps customers coming back for their sweet tooth cravings. The bakery is small and easy to miss, but the smell of home made southern sweets takes people back to memories of grand mom and mom's sweet kitchens. The sweet potato pie is a go-to for the holidays, with a crust that is nice and crispy and a perfect consistency. Some find the sweet potato pie delicious, while others say it has gotten way too sweet and recommend cutting the sugar by half. A mini sweet potato pie is also available. Other items include a small Pecan pie, which was the best but served cold, and an Apple pie that is soft in the middle and tasty. The Chocolate cookie is soft, chewy, and has milky chocolate chips. The chef is very nice and full of radiating energy, putting love into the baking. The service is excellent, with a helpful and patient person who speaks to customers as if they know them. There is no inside counter or seats, so the shop is grab and go.
