The Library at the Public Reviews
Wonderful atmosphere! The salmon was particularly excellent.
I had the egggplant dish and it was outstanding. It had wonderful flavors and will be my go to dish here going forward. Our server was outstanding. He was honest about food & drinks. His suggestions did not disappoint.
The Library is the perfect place to eat before a play at The Public, or wherever you’re in the Astor Place neighborhood. It’s expensive but worth it for convenience and serenity.
The Library at the Public is a stylish and elegant spot, featuring a 360-degree bar with 20 brown leather stools and impressive artwork, including beer recipes, prohibition pieces, and NYC landmarks. This restaurant is a terrific place for a lovely meal downtown, especially before a performance at the nearby Public Theater. The menu offers delicious options like the Baby Wedge Salad, topped with crispy bacon, blue cheese, and vine tomatoes, and the nicely seasoned salmon entree with well-prepared seasonal vegetables. Food is noted to be very fresh and tasty, with a fixed menu available during show breaks. The expert mixologists craft great cocktails, such as the Mezcal Spritz and beautifully balanced Espresso Martini. The service is super fast, efficient, and attentive, making for a great dining experience.
