The Mermaid Inn Reviews
Spirited Seafood spot with solid oysters, lobster rolls, and grilled salmon all within a good vibing building. The waiters can be slightly aggressive with ordering quick and be ready to pay a healthy bill. $30 a dish. 4/5 stars as a dinner spot.
Pre theatre. Got the sea bass off the prix fixe: nice piece of fish, well (lightly) steamed but covered in an inexplicably sweet and sour cloying sauce. Added nothing, as did the unseasoned rock shrimps scattered about. 2 house made sorbets for dessert--passion fruit, mild flavor, some ice; mango - zero flavor. They told us this chef has been there a long time. This kitchen needs a kick in the pants.
The food at the Mermaid Inn is always fresh - for me, that matters the most with seafood. I love their lobster roll, watermelon salad and island creek oysters. Pro tip: as for an order of the rolls! I love that it’s not impossible to get a reservation, but be prepared to squeeze into small tables.
