Came to NYC with my nephew to visit the Harry Potter store. Stopped at Breads Bakery for some Rye and spotted this place across the street. The Udon and broth are deeeelicious!!!! This ahi tuna rice bowl is what I had for lunch. The tuna was so fresh and melted in my mouth! I haven't had food this good since I was in Japan! The place itself is really cute and the service was fantastic! Will surely be back!
It's a solid Japanese udon and sushi place in Midtown Will it be the most amazing udon you've ever had? Nope, especially if you've been to Japan and been to great udon places such as Raku here in NYC. But if you're craving for udon or sushi rolls in the middle of the week or in the weekend, and you do NOT have a reservation because it was a random unanticipated craving, Tsurutontan is the way to go. Extremely fast lunch service and some pretty good lunch specials. Large portions of udon in huge bowls. Smaller cuts of fish used in their sashimi. If I worked in the immediate area this would be a weekly visit.
