“It’s truly the best of the best“

“My wife and I had a very enjoyable lunch here. I had the veggy pizza which came with a wide variety of vegetables and there were plenty. She had the FRIED GOAT CHEESE salad that came with pears, walnuts, dried cranberries, pancetta, red onion, and mixed greens. She was pleasantly surprised that she got two pieces of goat cheese because when she has ordered this dish before in other restaurants, they only give you one. There was friendly service too.“

“For the sake of full disclosure I’ve worked with the owners for over twenty years in the television industry. They have brought the same dedication and amazing attention to detail that has resulted in their tremendously successful careers, to their wonderful new restaurant. They have thought of EVERY detail from the whimsical videos playing in the rest rooms to the sugar cubes for your espresso... they have missed nothing. The menu is inventive and perfectly executed... Watermelon Gazpacho?! Whoa! The unique presentation of the Calamari appetizer was wonderful. Bouillabaisse?! You don’t find that as the seafood option very often... what a treat. Others in my group enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and the slightly smoky Mac & Cheese. Of course the cheese plates are spectacular. This is one of those meals you won’t forget! But wait did I mention the speakeasy downstairs? The perfectly appointed room features an amazing menu of craft cocktails AND six draft beers to choose from... including Ommegang Rare Vos... you simply don’t find that on tap anywhere!! Finally a word about the service. It was impeccable, perfectly attentive without being stuffy. Chris and Ellen have created a destination restaurant!“

“My husband and I had our 90-guest wedding at the Vanderbilt on 6/8/24 and it could not have been any better. We found the Vanderbilt on Airbnb when looking for a unique wedding venue, visited it in January of 2023, and booked it instantly- didn’t even see another venue. As stated in previous reviews, Henrietta made the planning process as easy as possible. We communicated mainly via email, but she allowed us to come to the space as often as we needed (I think between both of our families we were there 3 times). She also provided a list of vendors that previous wedding parties had used at the Vanderbilt, which I used for our planner, tent company, shuttle company and photographer (all great). When it came time for the tasting, we were provided with an extensive menu of food and drinks curated by Matt. We were blown away by the food. As the wedding day approached, Henrietta was easy to communicate with and flexible. She helped us plan a thorough rainy day plan B, and was the bearer of good news when she called me 2 days prior to tell me the weather looked good and we were going with plan A. The weekend of the wedding was incredible. Our families stayed in the 8 rooms upstairs Friday and Saturday night. Henrietta and Matt were in early on Saturday to get everything prepared. Their team was incredible. After the ceremony, Henrietta greeted us with champagne and a congratulations. When cocktail hour ended and we realized we were so busy that we didn’t even eat our appetizers, Henrietta put together a plate for us and brought it over. I’ve heard from a number of guests that the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and I agree. It’s important to note that the staff was also FUN to have around. Bartenders and servers interacted with guests and kept the energy light and fun. The next morning, Matt prepared a great breakfast (much needed) for those staying at the Vanderbilt, even including some leftovers of our banana pudding dessert from the night before. Now let’s quickly talk about the space. The Vanderbilt Lakeside is the most unique space I’ve ever seen. Each room has its own personality and is decorated meticulously and beautifully. I only had to bring in decorations for the tables, as the venue itself was already perfect. The deck was a perfect fit for our 90-person dinner. The lawn, outdoor bar, and lawn games were a hit for those who wanted to chill out rather than dance. The Bar room was the perfect size for our musicians and a dance floor. The rooms upstairs are clean, all about the same size, and all have their own bathrooms to make for a comfortable stay. Overall, I cannot recommend the Vanderbilt enough. We’re racking our brains for an excuse to host another event there. Henrietta and Matt are incredible to work with!“

“This place is the real deal. A pub run by incredibly warm people and food so good it makes you throw your arms up in disbelief. The burger is essentially flawless and the chicken wings will ruin other chicken wings for you for the rest of your days. The thai wings will haunt you. Cant wait to try other things on the menu. Dont be fooled by it's simple appearance, this pub is a beautiful GEM.“

“Our first visit to the Taconic Wayside Inn, An absolute pleasure! Our appetizers were amazing! Mozzarella sticks and Garlic Parmesan wings were absolutely cooked perfectly!We also had the Chicken Parmigiana and the Scallop Nantucket… both also prepared with love and perfection.Our waitress was attentive and extremely friendly. It was wonderful that her daughter worked alongside her as well. “Our adult children, from Brooklyn and upstate, and I, were excited to plan a surprise birthday luncheon for their Dad and my husband. The atmosphere was nice enough, and our server, Cat, was outstanding! The drinks were nice but they ran out of a beer we ordered by 1:30 pm on Saturday. Otherwise, aming a party of six, we had 4 beers, 2 Juice Bombs, 2 Health Margaritas, a glass of Chardonnay, and 3 other drinks...a total of 2 drinks per person. To start we ordered a plate of raw oysters and deep fried artichokes. Both choices were fine. We also ordered 3 Salad Nicoises which were a huge disappointment and should have been renamed, A Small Smattering 0f Tiny Greens With A Hint Of Dried Tuna, Whole Intact Garlic Clove, a 3 Discolored Green Beans Marinated in Vinegare with 2 Baby Potatos. If you were envisioning a classic Salad Nicoise, buyer beware. A 3 ounce portion of seared medium rare tuna or oil packed canned tuna, together with hard boiled eggs, Nicoise olives, and tomatoes with vinagrette were missing in action. The salad appeared to have been pepared with an eye to the least amount of preoaration“

“This place RIPS! Good beer, excellent renditions of the basics as far as food goes, but the fact that they HAVE FOOD! Is a huge bonus. They also have a full bar if you’re not interested in the beer. The building is beautiful, the location is perfect. If you’re looking for a unique brewery experience, especially this time of year… this place is for you. Give it a go!

“OMG We live in CT and came to NYC for an appt and things. For fun, we went to the farmer's market in Union Square and bought some of your incredible, amazing, delicious, gluten-free brioche buns and we're amazed! We can't wait to get back to The City so we can load up! We'll totally place an order before we come with our empty back packs! I have celiac disease, so it's a huge deal to me and my guy to find such an awesome bun! We're not even huge bread eaters and we think these blow everything else away with or without gluten! They also keep well in the 'frig and toast up beautifully in the air fryer. We can't wait to try more of your GF options, too. Thank you so much!“

“Lovely, lively atmosphere on Trivia Night! The food for the four of us was very good, up to the usual high standard! And this particular evening, they were short staffed, but the bartender covered our table in the back and was a fantastic server, attentive and affable, he was a real pro!“

“Although time has left this place behind inside and out, there’s a certain local feel to this place, as unassuming as its name. I had a great burger—“One-eyed”—a bacon cheese burger topped with a fried egg done over easy. The burger was flame broiled for nice flavor, with real crispy bacon. Fries were hot and crispy. Only the bun was subpar, a bit dry. Prices were decent and good value, though charging nearly $4 for soda was excessive. Service was excellent and friendly. Definitely will return to try other dishes.“
