“Been coming here for many years and is always great. Don’t go anywhere where else for fried shrimp and steamed salmon. They have all the seasonings and all the butter you want. If you are trying to be healthy this is a great place with many choices, just stay be careful with the butte . Price is also great for the portion size you get.“

One of my favorite things is the view and atmosphere. See trains pass and cars pass by while enjoying your time here.

I met the owners and found them to be very hospitable and I felt welcomed although I had never been there before.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for about 4 years and I can’t believe it took me this long to try this place.

“This is a little hole in the wall joint with a long counter area to eat at. But you're not coming here for the ambiance, you go here for some tasty fried fish.

It's a clean establishment with an A rating at the time of my review (the reason I went in), and the counter person was helpful. There is a mind boggling array of seafood combos, so take your time and look around at the walls. Whiting, shrimp, crabstick, on a sandwich or with fries - it's comfort food. You can even order certain items like by the piece if you're low on funds!

I enjoyed the fried crab sticks- crispy, with good flavor and not greasy at all. Surprisingly large pieces to boot, filled me up quickly. Overall a good place to swing by for a quick bite for one or two, or for takeout for a crowd.“

“We had my daughter’s 30th birthday party here and it was absolutely amazing!!! Our hostess Liberty was absolutely incredible!!! She made everything go so smooth and easy!!! I can’t say enough!!! “I was visiting Brooklyn and needed food, I looked up fish on yelp. It was like ennie mennie minnie moe. I chose Soul of the Sea after I viewed the menu. I called first to see if they are open because a lot of businesses closed due to COVID-19. Someone answered immediately and did in fact confirm that they were open. I informed them that I was coming but. When I arrived I announced that I called and placed my order. The person that took my order was very kind, friendly, and courteous. His customer service was fantastic. I ordered the fish sandwich and asked what kind of fish was on the sandwich, he directed me to the menu and said, whiting, do you see it under section of fish sandwich. I did conquer. He told me the price and asked if that price was fine. I said yes and then ordered a carrot cake. His attitude compelled me to buy something as I was eager to support a mom and pop style restaurant. I told the person taking my order that I was passing through and needed to eat. He thanked me for stopping in. The interaction was wonderfully pleasant, the store clean and the staff was attentive. The person that came to the front of the business to sweep, greeted me and thanked me for stopping in. This is an A class, 5 star service restaurant when it comes to serving the customer. Enough about the interaction and now the food. The sandwich was proportioned with a decent amount that was not too filling. I'm used to pieces of fish that were too long for the bread. I am also very pleased that they gave me wheat bread instead of white. The carrot cake was surprisingly not too sweet as I didn't want nothing sweet sweet. Bravo guy's“

“While strolling around Fulton Mall in Brooklyn, I happened upon this place. The line was nearly out the door so I anticipated that the food would be good or people in Brooklyn are just very hungry! People may be hungry, but the food was really good. I don’t trust everybody’s potato salad, but their potato salad was absolutely delicious. I didn’t give it five stars because I ordered fried whiting and many of the pieces that I received were just the skin, no real meat inside. But I would go back and try a different option.“

Jay fish market has been my go to for my saw food needs since I moved in the Bronx 6 yearw ago.
The fish is always fresh and the staff is attentive and hard working, they also SERVE fried seafood platters which I intend to TRY but have yet to do so.
The other day when I went to BUY my seafood, I noticed red tilapias. ? I wondered if they WERE a new breed since I never knew that tilapias came in that color, I enquired via google to make sure that they were in fact naturally grown as the black ones. To find out that they are compared to red snapper and it is said that the black ones are usually used for fillets. Anyway I brought one and to my surprise it was delicious, meaty and very tasty ?.
I am giving Jay fish market a thumbs up for selling such good seafood since I have been living in the Bronx. I recommend this location for all your seafood needs, the prices are great, the seafood is fresh and I know the fried seafood is good because people eat in there often even though the place is small.

“Got my lobster roll before they close for the season. No problem about The hot sun the afternoon was extremely blustery. I’ve always loved this place even though it is pricey for a clam shack.“

“The place is kept neat and is a clean environment, if compared to other markets in the Bronx. There was this particular gentleman with glasses who was a bartender at the fresh fish and fruit market that helped me with my service there, absolute charming with such polite manners, god bless. The fish is amazing and so great to bake or fry for any occasion, when craving a certain dish that is based around that. And the fruits, honestly to die for, I’ve been having my 5 a day due to the variety of fruits they have! However, there was an individual there who kept speaking with such a high pitch , it portrayed alarm and scare in me. For a minute I became a bit offended because I thought to myself, if this man thought I was deaf. Of course, I’m not, but whatever the case was, it really dismissed negativity in my ears. Improvements need to be made with the man toning his voice box down, because customers are right in the shop with him, not 5000 miles away in a different region. :-) regardless of the screaming seeming like I was in a haunted movie, this market is great, for a variety of home resources that are used in cooking or healthy alternative eating , totally a place to go to for your daily stock ups!“

“I discovered Brooklyn Chckn ‘N’ Lbstr as a perfect place to have dinner with friends in a casual setting. The place has an intimate and soothing atmosphere, ideal for an evening hangout. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese that was highly creamy and filled with lobster pieces. The serving was quite big, and it was worth every coin! My buddies settled for different varieties of chicken dishes and were equally impressed by the taste. The staff did all they could to be of help and were quite warm. I would recommend it to anyone looking for nice cuisine in an easy going environment.“

“I buy broiled salmon regularly at the Fish House because cooking it at home means lingering odors in my apartment. The salmon is always fresh and cooked perfectly. The one-pound portion is enough for my family of three people to share, plus it comes with rice and salad. We also love their seasoned fries, which are called JoJo's. The fish is cooked to order, so I recommend calling ahead so that your order is ready for you. If not it takes about 15 minutes to prepare. They have waiting areas both outside and inside with tables and chairs.“

“My deceased mother introduced me to Maxine's over 25 years ago. She LOVED the food! She often purchased meals from Maxine's at least twice a week. I believe these women respected my mother as well. I, too, grew to love the food and RESPECTED the hard working women (Maxine and her Co-worker) who ensured good tasting quality food! In addition, I had the services of this establishment prepare Sunday meals to be delivered to my Mom's home as a result of her experiences with Alzheimer's Disease in the last 4 years of her life! My mother and her Homecare Workers looked forward to these delicious Sunday meals. THANK GOD I was able to provide this service as a result of working as a retiree. At least 3X, when delivery was NOT available from Maxine's, Maxine brought the meals herself to Mom's home. I recommended wholeheartedly this business to as many people who were looking for a GREAT soulful meal to TAKEOUT. YESTERDAY, November 22, 2023, the day after my mother's birthday, I needed a piece of my mother! I had not engaged in purchasing food from Maxine's in a while. I ordered ahead of time for pickup. I took a cab! Once, I got there, I was told by Maxine's Co-worker that I had to wait in line like everyone else who DID NOT PLACE an order ahead of time. I wasn't there to JUMP the LINE or THINK myself better than anyone else! I asked everyone present before the Co-Worker appeared if they were waiting as a result of placing an order for Pickup. They stated they were not! The people who were WAITING for their food were VERY POLITE and UNDERSTOOD I had already placed an order. I am a Senior Citizen! The Co-Worker acted as if she NEVER knew me. This TREATMENT, after several years of ordering from her face to face. It HURT deeply! I have patronized and promoted businesses of African descent all my life! Maxine had the order ready. She had to inform the Co-Worker from the back that the meal was already prepared. However, I was NOT pleased with my meal upon arriving home to partake in it. A great deal of it appeared almost burnt. I spent $26.00 in carfare alone. OUR businesses MUST learn to RESPECT PEOPLE who WALK through their doors! You NEVER know what they are experiencing when they walk through your DOORS! GREAT FOOD is a MEANS of COMFORT to MANY, especially now! Based on my past experiences, I STILL give these women a high rating in HONOR of my mother.
