“Really good experience from this Mr. Subb. The customer service from the laddies that helped me was good! They were friendly and asked questions about my order. The sub I received was also very good. I can tell that prep is being done regularly, and that everything is fresh. Tots are always a great add on, and is one of the reasons I prefer Mr.Subb over subway or other restaurant shops. Soda was good, and the machine looked cleaned. The only issue I had during this visit was the cleanliness of the ceilings, specifically over the food area. Guys this needs to be fixed asap you have dust and debris hanging from the vents and panels. A food safety inspection would mark this as a critical. It would only take 30 mins to correct this. GM if you are reading this please make this correction. It would be nice to see improvements next time I return. Thank you staff! I enjoyed my lunch.“

I got back to work, opened up my sub, and was horrified to find mayonnaise on it, when I did not order mayonnaise (and to say I do not like mayonnaise is an understatement).But.....I called up the shop, and they delivered a corrected (and very tasty) sub to my workplace. “I could not find an owners name or contact information for this particular Subway, however I must say that the young women who work and run that small subway need to be protected at all costs. They are the sweetest, most kind young women I’ve encountered in this tough job in a very long time. When I had my bistro I prayed for these young people. To the owner, give these four young women a raise, do not lose them and treat them right. They keep your place clean, the service is exceptional and they have true customer service. I’ve even witnessed their empathy and humanity toward a limited member of our community, they show him kindness and respect, they give him a place to rest and be treated humanely and with friendship. I’m not a huge fan of faster type foods, but I will always patronize this shop and primarily for the young women who run the shop.“

“I placed an online order on 11/11/23 and requested the food be ready in 45 minutes. It was not. Staff had just started making the subs when I arrived 45 minutes after placing it. What's the point of online ordering and selecting a time if the food isn't going to be ready? I would understand if it was during a lunch rush, however, that wasn't the case. “Di’Bella’s is an institution in Albany - and for good reason. Di’Bella’s began in Rochester in 1918. Their bread is baked in house, their ingredients are fresh, and their meat is of a higher quality. The atmosphere is dripping in their storied history and dining in feels like dining in a working museum. The downfall of Di’Bellas is the price point for their +7 inch subs and their artificially retro vibe.

The only meal deal they had at the time of my visit was a mini meal with a 5 inch sub, 20oz drink, and chips, cookie or pickle for $9.99. For the price point, it’s a valid deal. If you want any sub bigger than that, however, it’s somewhat costly. I ordered conservatively and had the 7 inch Di’Bella Cheesesteak with a large drink and a pickle. Cheesesteak: $9.79, drink $2.99 and a pickle is $1.49. All together my meal cost about $14.27. For a more casual, laid back restaurant without wait staff, $14.27 seemed excessive. I recognize they use fresher ingredients and bake their bread in-house but there are certainly cheaper options in Albany with similar qualities.

The other compliant I have is the interior of the restaurant which was the artificial retro vibe of the tables and benches. The tables and benches need a serious upgrade. It took away from the down-home vibe they were hoping to achieve with Di’Bella’s story written on the walls. With the aggressive 2010s harsh coloring, bright lighting, and artificial retro tables and benches it seems as though the restaurant can’t decide which era or genre it is hoping to emulate.

Having said all of that, Di’Bella’s flavor is worth the visit alone. They take care of every quality of the sandwich and it shows. If you like high quality subs and exploring time honored restaurants, this restaurant is for you.“

“I absolutely adore everyone who works there. I work in the mall and I can honestly say that if anyone says they're rude... they're lying. If anyone said they're slow...they were probably busy. And if anyone said they messed up their order...the customer probably wasn't specific enough. The menu is straight forward enough for the average person.“
