“Steven this one is for you. This review is for 485 Delaware Ave Albany.I came across this spot as a last minute I don't feel like cooking. Originally, I was going to grab just a slice of pizza. The place was empty but super clean. Before I go inside I see this guy come out, here is how the conversation went. Me:Hey how is the food inside. Guy: the food is delicious I promise.Me: you must work here.Guy: yes.Me: oh that's why you say the food is. If it's not good I know what car you're driving.. we both laugh.Him: tell them to make you a fresh small pizza.Me: okI must say the pizza was pretty darn good. I asked for a crispy bottom and they delivered. The dough was not thick. More like thin crust. Guys I'm 3 slices in. My new friend is Steven. You were right it was good thank you. We friends now. Oh wait shout to the gentleman that brought the pizza to my car.“

“Chez Mike doesn't disappoint. Often when my husband picks me up at the train station we have dinner there. The cocktails, food and service were as good or better than my meals in NYC and a great value for fine dining in the Capital District. Our server, Cameron, was friendly and attentive even when the place really filled up. Two delicious cocktails, a glass of wine, two appetizers, an entree and dessert were under $120. I actually like the strip mall vibe on the outside hiding the awesomeness inside. Chez Mike is a real find.“

“We have brunch at the city beer hall, pretty much every week. I am famous for having the same meal every time. The steak and eggs. The steak is always cooked perfectly medium rare. The eggs are sunny side up and delicious. Home fries and a side salad round out the perfect breakfast. My partner also always orders the same meal. Fried chicken with macaroni and cheese. When we go for dinner If you are a French onion soup fan I have a huge suggestion. The French onion soup is what I call a "destination dish " It is a delicious change from the norm. The service is always fast and friendly. The staff is knowledgeable. We have been customers here since the first week and will continue to be. The bar area, the dining room with its communal tables, the patio in the summer time. This has been our go to place for the past 13 years. Keep up the great work, the food, the hospitality, the overall experience is what a beer hall should be.“

“Mouth-watering and thoughtful menu with creative, nuanced and seasonal inspirations for both food and beverage options. I was very impressed by the shishito peppers, general tso’s chicken bites, french dip and the espresso martini. The apps were perfectly battered, crispy and flavorful. The French dip just hit so right- tender meat, savory au jus, warm, perfectly toasted bread. The fries were perfect- exactly what you’d imagine if you are craving fries! And the highlight of our entire night was our bartender Halsey. Her genuine care in curating our experience cannot be matched. She made great suggestions, interjected with playful humor, read when our group wanted time to chat amongst ourselves, and made a PHENOMENAL cocktail. I mean, the most serious espresso martini anyone could hope for without the overstated hipster flair. 10/10. Would go back just for her. Watching her interact with her other bar guests was also a treat- it’s easy to see how she can command the room & keeps a mighty fine bar! Will certainly be back!“

My only thing is that it was really warm in the bathroom like uncomfortably so, but it wasn’t that big a deal, just something I remember noticing. Live music is fire ? I can’t speak on the food I didn’t get any but the mixed drinks were type strong . I would return. Bartenders were quick and friendly enough.“

Wait times on Sunday morning are over 40 minutes and because of the crowds the service is (was) subpar. Got my order wrong, no coffee refills, etc. So, plan ahead, prepare to wait and do not expect service that matches the food.“

“Voted best dive bar in Albany. They are proud of that title and their Irish heritage! Light atmosphere. Everyone seems happy. No drama. We had some cold beers and a basket of cooked to perfection fried foods which included mozz sticks, onion rings, fries, and chicken tenders. Enough to share with many. Great jukebox too. A good time was had by all in this little neighborhood bar. Cheers!“

“My boyfriend treated me to Yono's for Valentine's Day, and Yono's was probably one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had! We had their special Valentine's menu, which offered a 6-course tasting menu, and we decided to go with the wine pairings, which was an excellent choice. It was my first time experiencing the beauty of wine pairings, and I was amazed at how elegantly the wine enhanced each course - their selections of wines were *chefs kiss* The complexity, flavor, and intricacy of each dish were phenomenal. The 6-course meal featured chilled creek oysters, butter poached scallops, root vegetable potage, foie gras, filet mignon, and dark chocolate gateau--each dish was a masterpiece and so beautifully presented. My personal favorite was the foie gras. While Yono's is definitely on the pricey side, it's perfect for your fancy shmancy occasions. I'm looking forward to returning to explore their regular menu! “We just had a private party for 40 here and they really exceeded expectations across the board. The food was fantastic and interesting for a buffet line, the service from the coordinator/server and bartender was really excellent, the beer selection was world class, and it was a cool interesting old building. For food we had chicken parm (really good), a great braised (?) pork dish, a large salad that was artfully presented, and the green beans and asparagus were perfectfully lightly charred, everyone was commenting on them. Only downsides were the unexpected step down into the bar, & chairs up on tables in the unused front bar. They are really well organized for private parties with extensive menus and prices posted online. Very impressed“

The atmosphere can't be beat- it's somewhat of a "hidden gem" being tucked away on the second floor of building overlooking Lark St. Food has been phenomenal each time I've gone. Everything is packed with flavor and has a unique touch. Chicken fried rice, the short rib, and the meatball appetizer are a few of my personal favorites but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Albany and I can't wait to go back“

dp An American Brasserie American • $$
25 Chapel St, Albany - 8.71 miles

“Great service. Delicious food. Cod was cooked to perfection with a cream coconut curry sauce that I could've guzzled by the jar. Drinks were fabulous. My only complaint is to no fault of the restaurant rather society's lack of respect for fancier places like this. Have a little more respect when dining at a nice place than coming with a baseball cap, bright neon runners jacket and dirty band t shirts. Save that for the pubs.“
