The beautiful location makes Shelter Island one of our favorite spots to get away from city life. That being said, I can’t recommend this overpriced, pretentious hotel. We had to ask every day to get someone to clean our room and then call again - and again - to get new glasses or towels. They forgot to bring our breakfast and charged ridiculous prices for mediocre fare in the restaurant. Avoid this place and enjoy the beauty of the island instead.
This place is beautiful but the service is awful. Come get a drink at the bar, do not eat here. We sat down at 8 and ordered pretty quickly, all the cold dishes came out fast but for a full hour no one checked on us. No one came to take drink orders, tell us where our food was, and water cups sat empty. I wouldn't mind waiting if drinks were flowing but there was no contact for a full hour. We've been to Sunset Beach many times over the years. But this is the first time we stayed at the hotel.Amazingly bright and spacious rooms with balconies.Great place to enjoy good drinks, food and just relax.Definitely the most vibes on Shelter Island.
