The restaurant La Cocina RD is a new real Puerto Rican food place in Staten Island. The surroundings are very clean and the owner and her mom and chef are pleasant and nice. Great food is served with generous portions and affordable prices. People can find traditional meals such as monfongo, pork pastel, pernil, frijoles, mofongo, alcapurrias, beef Empanada, Pincho de Pollo, pasteles, rice and beans. The alcapurrias are a must try and rank among the top alcapurrias have had. The beef Empanada was excellent and reminded people of an old school Puerto Rican bodega. The Pincho de Pollo tasted like the Pinchos on the island of Puerto Rico. The pernil and chicharon were so good that they felt like eating food in a grandmother’s house. The restaurant has plenty of parking, quick bite options, lunch or dinner choices and a homey feel that reminds people of Puerto Rican culture.
