The lady taking orders could’ve been less rude, she seemed annoyed, no kind of greeting just “What do you want”, no “you’re welcome” when I thanked her after she took my order, thanked again when she handed me my order and met with silence. “This was a 1980’s music themed 60th birthday party with local and out of town attendees. It was fantastic in all regards! The venue was awesome, everything was well organized, the bartender was great and the 1980’s themed cocktails that they created were a huge hit! I was planning a big entrance as Joan Jett singing I love rock and roll (karaoke) and am not tech savvy. I wanted to understand the sound system, app, and mic’s and was nervous about whether it would work for what I wanted to do. I contacted Kristin (the event coordinator) in a panic the day before the party and she and Tim (the owner) called me so that Tim could explain things and reassure me which he succeeded in doing! He was also there at the start of the event to go through things with me and make sure everything was set which alleviated my anxiety and let the *epic* performance go without a hitch, setting the tone for a wonderful night. It was a great space and set up and everyone had a great time!“

“I’m embarrassed to say this was my husband and mines first time here being that the restaurant has been around for 20 years! Nevertheless, we couldn’t be happier to have stumbled upon such a low key, humble and delicious restaurant. The parking is a bit difficult as the lot is free but very tight. We had dinner here and from the chai tea to the plates we had (stew, salad, plantain fritters, gnocchi and greens), everything was flavourful, perfectly spiced and delicious. The pricing isn’t bad at all either. They prefer cash payment, but they fo take card. Highly recommend for anyone following a vegan/plant-based/vegetarian diet, since the menu is entirely friendly to these diets. We will definitely be back!“

“Every time I go to Clownboy, I wish it was closer to where I work or live, but that's more of a me problem. My most recent visit sealed the deal on why I need to just make the trip periodically.

This is a fully vegan coffee shop. I am not vegan but I am lactose intolerant so it's a treat to order from a menu with reckless abandon and not having to worry whether my coffee would be better with traditional milk. I think Clownboy is on par with many of the local coffee shops in the area quality-wise. I believe they make many (if not all) of their syrups in house, which is greatly enjoyed and appreciated. My personal favorite is the Dale Cooper, a cold brew with fig and walnut bitters. It's not sweet and has a subtle almost smoky finish. It's sophisticated and reminds me of a cocktail in a way. I have dabbled with a few other drinks on the menu and enjoyed them as well, but the Dale Cooper is my jam.

The vibe in the cafe is great. It's fun, welcoming and colorful. Local artists have work displayed for sale. I am more of a grab and go coffee drinker by default, but I could totally see myself chilling here for a while if the mood struck.

There are a few very small things I wish were different (limited seating, street parking), but on a nice day, I don't mind a little walk and a coffee to go.“

“My husband and I went for the first time and we loved the atmosphere. The food and the beers were amazing, and the rest of the staff was very attentive and friendly.
There was only one small detail: we ordered a cauliflower dish and, while the waitress was bringing it upstairs to our table, I noticed she picked up a piece of cauliflower from the plate with her hand and ate it. I didn’t say anything because it wasn’t a big deal for us, but it is something that should be handled more carefully.
That being said, I am still giving this place 5 stars. One bad action by a single waitress should not be a reason to disqualify the great atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the excellent service provided by the rest of the employees. We would definitely come back.“

My only reason it's not 5 stars is that we had a weird miscommunication with he server. 2 people at the table asked for a side of churros and the other had chicken and churro entree. The server came over and said that they can't do the churros and so the person with the chicken and churros ordered side of fries instead and they 2 others with the sides of churros asked for sides of bacon instead. Fast forward, all of us got our entress instead of 1 person. They waited 15 minutes longer than everyone else. Then all of a sudden 3 sides of churros came out. The server said ok the kitchen is trying these. So now at this point everyone had their replacement sides and now 3 sides of churros. We assumed they "were testing them" since that's what the server said and they would be on the house since now that's too much food. But when we got the bill we were charged for the curros and the other sides. It was just confusing overall with the communication on that and then also we got charged for sides and the cjurros when we wanted 1 or the other not both. The manager, which I think is the owner was very nice and they comped the churros. It sounded like the server told them that we didn't like the churros, but it was more of the principle of being charged. Would definitely go back, I would never hold a miscommunication against a restaurant, but just wanted to voice a few things. Overall cool new spot“

“Wish there was an option for heat at home on the online ordering form. Even when I order ahead, I end up having to wait for them to put it together as there's always only one person working.

It's also SUPER cramped in there. Like I'm not sure I'd be able to fit my mobility aid, so I send in my partner, it's so tight.

Even when doing a BYO and paying extra, the toppings can seem stingy at times.

But the rolls are amazing and I love trying new icing flavors. Definitely give them a try, even if you aren't vegan!“
