About High Falls Gorge

High Falls Gorge is a well-maintained area with a short, kid-friendly trail walk that offers stunning views of the Ausable River waterfalls. This privately owned attraction features a safe and scenic walkway along the water, making it a great way to spend the day with family. The nature walk has limited stairs and is a relatively short commitment, providing a big payoff with breathtaking views during any season. Visitors find the trails and walkways to be the best they will find anywhere, making the experience accessible for any age or ability. The walkways are safe and make visitors feel close to nature, with easy-to-follow trails and beautiful scenery. While the admission price may be higher than expected, many feel it is worth it for the unique and beautiful experience. The hike is suitable for beginners and families, and it is recommended to try the longer loop trail for those with better fitness and good walking shoes. However, some guests have noted that parts of the trail may be closed at times, which could affect the overall experience. Overall, it’s a beautiful and relaxing stop near Lake Placid, with a peaceful vibe created by the gushing water surrounded by lush forest.

Honestly you are paying 20 bucks for 30 min walk around the falls with signs to read. You be the judge if that is worth it. Personally I liked whiteface mountain more. You can either sit and listen to the gorge after or do the nature trail as well. We got there around 3 and still had a good amount of people so close to closing.
Beautiful place to visit
High Falls Gorge is a beautiful and scenic place to visit. The waterfalls are impressive, and the surrounding views make for a great experience. The staff was also very nice, friendly, and helpful.

The only downside for me was that pets are not allowed, even small lap dogs. It would be nice if they had some accommodation for well-behaved small pets. Other than that, it’s a wonderful place to visit and enjoy nature.
