“I’m not from around here, and I definitely felt that way when I walked in. The food was good and not overpriced. The service was very quick and nice. You can definitely tell this is a hometown - small town diner feel. Got all the drama/tea from the area within the 30 minutes I was there lol. I may be over exaggerating a little. Cool little place and would eat there again!”
“Great price for size and loaded with toppings. They also have a really tasty cauliflower crust pizza. We called to ask about ingriedients in the cauliflower crust due to an allergy and they were super friendly and helpful. Best part is being able to pull through for pizza pickup and drinks!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free”
“I'm not a real big pizza person but I bought some for our group, and I must say, they were excellent tasting!!!Vegetarian options: I ordered a black olive and onion pizza and it was great!”
“A hidden gem. Came because my husband went to school here as a kid and today is his birthday. I had the crispy chicken sandwich, very crispy, very delicious. I also had a piece of lemon cream pie which was homemade and lemony and totally delicious. Husband had the turkey club and fries, huge sandwich, delicious as well. Service was winderful, friendly, everything you want in a good server. We will definitely be coming back.”
“I've been coming here ever since I moved to the area in '08. I love this place. It's a dive bar, but a great dive bar. With ping pong, pool, darts, and shuffle board there are games for everyone. Lots of TVs for sports events, and the place gets packed Thursday-Saturday. If you haven't been here you're missing out.”
“Tall skinny kid did an AMAZING job making my meatball sub. Literally, the greatest meatball sub I’ve ever had. Guy in front of me was being a j**** not sure what his deal was, can’t please everyone I guess. Anyways, I’ll be back again very soon! Love this subway!”
“While in town on vacation we got the Chicken and Shrimp hibachi and the NY Strip and Scallops hibachi and both were amazing! Super fresh and cooked perfectly. The hibachi meals come with a broth and a salad, both of which were good! We called our order in and it was done within 15 min. The service was excellent and the workers were very kind. The restaurant is small inside but they do have some seating, we got our food to go.”
“Came for the Indian food, left wanting to come back for the genuine hospitality. I feel like I'm walking into my favorite Uncle's kitchen, where he greets me with the most divine tea and then fills my belly with nutritious, delicious food. The naan is uncontested and the Bangin Bartha is truly Bangin. Not to mention the Paneer Palak, get out of town. Actually, I've never eaten one bad dish here. I'd rather give 10 stars but I'll settle with 5.”
“The flavor of the food was quite good, though the coconut chicken curry was a bit soupy and light on the chicken. For $24, the quantity of the food should have included more food. Thankfully there was warm bread and dipping sauce served before and during the meal to help fill us up.”
“So unbelievably happy we stopped into this bakery on our recent trip through Ohio!Don't let the size of their shop fool you-- The footprint may be small but their huge selection of breads, pastries, and panini sandwiches is exactly what you'd want from a place like this.We needed lunch, and after talking to who I believe is Tim, the head baker, my hubby and I took his recommendations and couldn't have been happier. My husband's name is Kevin, so he ordered "The Kevin," which is turkey, cheddar, house-made coleslaw, and pickles. He DEVOURED it! Then wanted another!I ordered "The Laurie," which is roasted beets, Laurel Valley cloverton cheese, black pepper, arugula, and a balsamic drizzle....People...! THIS is my new favorite sandwich of all time! It is so unique and refreshing and I am currently trying to recreate it at home! (I just need that BREAD!)I can't say enough great things about Athens Bread Company, and we can't wait to stop in again on our way from Michigan to Louisville in a few months. If you're in the Athens area, make it a point to stop and try something! Anything! Grab a loaf, a sandwich, and a bottle of flavored balsamic vinegar or oil..... I promise you won't be sorry! :)”
“Small restaurant, but got seated fairly quickly and food came very fast. Street parking was a bit difficult to find. Atmosphere was a typical older diner. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Had a veggie omelet, hashbrowns, and biscuit & gravy. Husband had egg sandwich and shared my meal. My meal was very good. Would definitely go back.”
“Fun quirky place to eat. The coleslaw is delicious and tangy. Both the regular and vegetarian hot dogs are good (and no upcharge for vegetarian one!) French fries are delicious and taste exactly like fair fries. Skip the cheese sauce and get the roasted garlic rosemary mayo with your fries. Leave time to look at the hotdog history related items around the restaurant.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian hot dogs, baked beans and chili sauce”
“My girlfriend and I have been there several times before and even had my 50th birthday party there, but today we went for the Easter brunch and it's the best buffet I have ever been to. Everything we tried was excellent and we can't wait to go back again.”
“I absolutely love this place and wish we had something akin in Columbus. It has that chill, relaxing, old-school coffee shop kind of vibe that is conducive to working, meeting, or just chiling for all walks of life. It's HUGE with two levels, but dim and spread out enough to get in your own zone. It has a quirky and nostalgic atmosphere (couches, wooden tables, old school record player), but clearly has modern touches and is very clean. It's not pretentious or uppity like a lot of coffee shops have become. I also really liked their eco-friendly touches (reusable stir sticks, compostable cups, etc). I haven't been yet, but I love that they do live events and are open in the evening! If you're around Hocking Hills, it is worth going out of your way to come here.”
“Diamond in the rough. This is a little place that is good. My order was goofed, but it was so yummy I was thrilled. Bacon egg sandwich instead of sausage worked wonderfully. They were busy, so people are finding out about this wonderful place.”
“Stopped in on the first day of a LONG road trip from Staunton, VA to West Yellowstone, MT. I found it was a stop on the Bobcat Brew Trail. Luca was my server and provided fantastic friendly service.I had the Te Araroa Hazy I.P.A. with Motuela New Zealand Hops paired with a Chimi sweet potato fries with garlic aioli and chimichurri whilst working on my logistics and planning for the coming days. Thanks for the great food and a quality I.P.A. Yum!”
“All kinds of frozen custard options! Inside food court area! Close to all the games and fun! Enjoy tons of flavors and styles!Kid-friendliness: Near all the games and bowling!”
“Tucked away on the fringe of Ohio University's campus happenings, you will find Ciro, an Italian restaurant featuring both traditional eats and at-home favorites. With a window into the kitchen, you can see your order being made fresh and the freshness is only further highlighted by the taste of the actual meal. Most notably, I ordered the special which featured a polenta crusted cod, risotto and broccoli. The fish tasted fresh and was cooked well. The risotto was the perfect consistency and the broccoli was vibrant, green and tender. The service was excellent and we were able to get a table on a Friday night without a reservation.”
“It's a nice tap room and if you love Bourbon barrel aged beers they've got your fill. My only complaint was the parking lot. It's kind of hard to find.”
“Make sure to visit the food truck it is outstanding.Large selection of IPA beer. No alcohol and no what I refer to as regular beer. But good place.I had the bourbon barrel aged beer it was good.”
“This is an Athen's institution. I was a local resident (a townie) my family loved coming here. Back then it was really good chicken at an excellent price. The quality has come down some, the prices have went up (of course they did, inflation). However I paid 10 bucks for 2 pieces of blackberry pie. One for my daughter and one for me. Not a single blackberry was found in either slice. It was all "thickening" as my mother would say and crust. Inflation or not if you are selling blackberry pie, it should contain blackberries. We receive thickened juice and crust.”
“The batista (David) was excellent and selected a perfect selection based on my preferences. We had an enjoyable visit. I wish they had a shop in Columbus. I would go every morning. They are family owned and operated. Coffee like no other.”
“A cozy and cute spot for a specialty cocktail. Love stopping in here to have a drink and play board games. The service is so friendly and informative on the different types of spirits. Kelly is my favorite bartender, she would look great in a hat.”
“Ordered shrimp fried rice and dumplings, it was very good. Service was pretty reasonable. We dined in and there were nonstop takeout orders, seemed to be very popular.”
“While on campus to pick up our daughter for Christmas Break we stopped in for an early dinner. I split the Fried Fish wrap with my husband. It was plenty of food so I was glad we split. I do wish their wraps came with a side of some sort. Overall very delicious. Would eat there again.”
“Ohio University game day—Halloween weekend. Found this place uptown. Upon opening, they became very busy. However, we had excellent service from Elise. The portobello mushroom sandwich was phenomenal! Side salad was very nice! Will be back the next time we are in town!”
“This place is a gem. Truly magical. The savory, made-to-order breakfast is top notch but the bakery products are out of this world. Try the almond bar for a celestial experience.”
“Never been to Athens before and got trapped eating Cafe food for a week. Ventured off and found the Pub, which lives up to its name. Great burgundy door leading you into a gallery of memorabilia, laughter and good vibes. I sat at the bar was quickly greeted and ordered wings, beer and a double of Jamison. The wings came out quickly and were a great size for the price. If I ever come to Athens again, I'd definitely stop by.”
“The food was pretty good, and I'm looking forward to trying it again when the stars align. I really enjoyed their take on Greek fries and recommend those, maybe just as your entire meal. The word on this place is that they "are never open". The one time I went there wasn't anyone behind the counter when I walked in, and I had to wait a few minutes to be acknowledged. Poor me, I know, but that isn't very welcoming, and may result in some people not going in or just leaving which hurts their chances at success. Of course, this may have been a rare occurrence as my sample size is one visit. I tried to go again on a Sunday before a movie and, you guessed it, closed. I looked up their hours and they aren't open on weekends, so maybe that is why it seems that they are never open. It seems like a bad decision to not be open on weekends, but I'm sorta used to Athen's business hours which are all over the place and presumably designed to keep a business open just enough to appease students and bring in just enough money keep the doors open another month.”
“Great atmosphere and very friendly service with the coldest beer around. They remember what you drink and have it sitting there as soon as you sit down. One of the best small town bars around. Always a good ”
