“A New favorite for us, we had the steak and a really tasty Pinot noir. The restaurant has a wider variety of wines than the ones they sell retail, including some dry reds and whites. The location is really wonderful, you get the southeast Ohio visual experience. Easy to get to just off of route 33. The owners take great pride in the experience you have, and the waite staff are very positive and engaged. We also liked the appetizer baked boursin cheese in a pastry was outstanding. “Had an impromptu birthday get together today. The owner and waiter were great! Great atmosphere, and awesome wine selection. We also sampled the menu, and we all agreed it was great! Took wine home for later, along with a couple of Shade Winery glasses! We will be back!”

“While in town on vacation we got the Chicken and Shrimp hibachi and the NY Strip and Scallops hibachi and both were amazing! Super fresh and cooked perfectly. The hibachi meals come with a broth and a salad, both of which were good! We called our order in and it was done within 15 min. The service was excellent and the workers were very kind. The restaurant is small inside but they do have some seating, we got our food to go.”

“Came for the Indian food, left wanting to come back for the genuine hospitality. I feel like I'm walking into my favorite Uncle's kitchen, where he greets me with the most divine tea and then fills my belly with nutritious, delicious food. The naan is uncontested and the Bangin Bartha is truly Bangin. Not to mention the Paneer Palak, get out of town. Actually, I've never eaten one bad dish here. I'd rather give 10 stars but I'll settle with 5.”

“Lulu runs a very clean restaurant, with outstanding decor and atmosphere. The food is sort of standard restaurant tex/mex BUT everything on my plate is fresh and plentiful -read that as huge portions. The house salsa is top shelf, and the guacamole is also very good. Lulu does not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own.”

“So unbelievably happy we stopped into this bakery on our recent trip through Ohio!Don't let the size of their shop fool you-- The footprint may be small but their huge selection of breads, pastries, and panini sandwiches is exactly what you'd want from a place like this.We needed lunch, and after talking to who I believe is Tim, the head baker, my hubby and I took his recommendations and couldn't have been happier. My husband's name is Kevin, so he ordered "The Kevin," which is turkey, cheddar, house-made coleslaw, and pickles. He DEVOURED it! Then wanted another!I ordered "The Laurie," which is roasted beets, Laurel Valley cloverton cheese, black pepper, arugula, and a balsamic drizzle....People...! THIS is my new favorite sandwich of all time! It is so unique and refreshing and I am currently trying to recreate it at home! (I just need that BREAD!)I can't say enough great things about Athens Bread Company, and we can't wait to stop in again on our way from Michigan to Louisville in a few months. If you're in the Athens area, make it a point to stop and try something! Anything! Grab a loaf, a sandwich, and a bottle of flavored balsamic vinegar or oil..... I promise you won't be sorry! :)”

“Donkey Coffee is a must-visit independent coffee shop in Athens, Ohio. Offering a variety of drinks, Donkey is a staple for Ohio University students and locals alike. They have ample seating, making this a great place to meet with friends, study or stop by for a quick drink or snack. They also have a stage where they host open mic nights and other intimate performances. Everyone who works here is incredibly nice and helpful if you have any questions about their offerings.”

“The flavor of the food was quite good, though the coconut chicken curry was a bit soupy and light on the chicken. For $24, the quantity of the food should have included more food. Thankfully there was warm bread and dipping sauce served before and during the meal to help fill us up.”

“My girlfriend and I have been there several times before and even had my 50th birthday party there, but today we went for the Easter brunch and it's the best buffet I have ever been to. Everything we tried was excellent and we can't wait to go back again.”

“Small restaurant, but got seated fairly quickly and food came very fast. Street parking was a bit difficult to find. Atmosphere was a typical older diner. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Had a veggie omelet, hashbrowns, and biscuit & gravy. Husband had egg sandwich and shared my meal. My meal was very good. Would definitely go back.”

“Fun quirky place to eat. The coleslaw is delicious and tangy. Both the regular and vegetarian hot dogs are good (and no upcharge for vegetarian one!) French fries are delicious and taste exactly like fair fries. Skip the cheese sauce and get the roasted garlic rosemary mayo with your fries. “We had “That’s a chunky” hazy IPA and they were great! They are having a pig roast tonight to celebrate 420! They have indoor seating as well as a nice outside area. They have games you can grab and play inside and have tether ball outside. Kids are welcome too! They have a large selection of beer and other drinks including non alcoholic options which I love. They have restrooms for everyone including a family and all gender one!! Parking lot is large which is a plus. All the staff from the time we got there was very friend knowledgeable and helpful. They have handicap parking area close to the entrance of the brewery. They also sell shirts and hats merchandise at a reasonable price. Definitely will be back when we can stay longer.”

“Tucked away on the fringe of Ohio University's campus happenings, you will find Ciro, an Italian restaurant featuring both traditional eats and at-home favorites. With a window into the kitchen, you can see your order being made fresh and the freshness is only further highlighted by the taste of the actual meal. Most notably, I ordered the special which featured a polenta crusted cod, risotto and broccoli. The fish tasted fresh and was cooked well. The risotto was the perfect consistency and the broccoli was vibrant, green and tender. The service was excellent and we were able to get a table on a Friday night without a reservation.”

“Loved this brewery! Excellent beers and the food truck was awesome too with some awesome hot dogs. The Whiskey S’mores Stout is one of the best stouts I’ve ever had, one of the best beers in general I’ve ever had. Brewery #281 on the Ohio on Tap trail, this one has been one of the best!”

“It's a nice tap room and if you love Bourbon barrel aged beers they've got your fill. My only complaint was the parking lot. It's kind of hard to find.”

“A cozy and cute spot for a specialty cocktail. Love stopping in here to have a drink and play board games. The service is so friendly and informative on the different types of spirits. Kelly is my favorite bartender, she would look great in a hat.”

“It is a lovely, quaint coffee shop in Athens, OH. The coffees are delicious, and inexpensive. They do have some food, but mostly some baked goods here and there, nothing to fancy but still tasty. The atmosphere is warm, and welcoming.”

“While on campus to pick up our daughter for Christmas Break we stopped in for an early dinner. I split the Fried Fish wrap with my husband. It was plenty of food so I was glad we split. I do wish their wraps came with a side of some sort. Overall very delicious. Would eat there again.”

“Ohio University game day—Halloween weekend. Found this place uptown. Upon opening, they became very busy. However, we had excellent service from Elise. The portobello mushroom sandwich was phenomenal! Side salad was very nice! Will be back the next time we are in town!”

“Never been to Athens before and got trapped eating Cafe food for a week. Ventured off and found the Pub, which lives up to its name. Great burgundy door leading you into a gallery of memorabilia, laughter and good vibes. I sat at the bar was quickly greeted and ordered wings, beer and a double of Jamison. The wings came out quickly and were a great size for the price. If I ever come to Athens again, I'd definitely stop by.”

“The food was pretty good, and I'm looking forward to trying it again when the stars align. I really enjoyed their take on Greek fries and recommend those, maybe just as your entire meal.The word on this place is that they "are never open". The one time I went there wasn't anyone behind the counter when I walked in, and I had to wait a few minutes to be acknowledged. Poor me, I know, but that isn't very welcoming, and may result in some people not going in or just leaving which hurts their chances at success. Of course, this may have been a rare occurrence as my sample size is one visit. I tried to go again on a Sunday before a movie and, you guessed it, closed. I looked up their hours and they aren't open on weekends, so maybe that is why it seems that they are never open. It seems like a bad decision to not be open on weekends, but I'm sorta used to Athen's business hours which are all over the place and presumably designed to keep a business open just enough to appease students and bring in just enough money keep the doors open another month.”

“Grabbed a few beers here while visiting Athens on a Hocking Hills trip! I'm from Columbus and love their new location there. This one is a lot smaller, but beautiful inside and their beers are incredible. The host we had on Thursday was SO kind in explaining our questions. We sat on the patio and had a wonderful time. Excited to come back and try the food.”

“Kid-friendliness: Eating out with small kids can be a nightmare, but our family had a great night out at Kiser’s. Clean, plenty of space, lots of napkins, great food that everyone enjoyed. Ice cream all around for dessert!”
