There were 11 of us in our party and most of us had never been to C&J before (we live in Hyde Park and typically frequent the Precinct and Ruby’s locations). We loved our first experience at C&J. This historic property was beautiful and well-appointed, the service was top notch, and as always, the steaks were terrific and the wine list was extensive! It was a great evening in the burbs!“
“We haven't had such a fantastic experience in a restaurant in so long, I forgot what it feels like. We were promptly seated by the hostess, and she was friendly. Our waitress was great and was very polite and attentive. I'll never get tired of having a refill for my drink set down in front of me before I have to ask. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, and we enjoyed the decor. I was glad we were almost finished when they sat a couple at the table next to ours, because it is a little close and you're right in each other's conversation. I got the salmon bruschetta to start, and it was so good. Everything tasted so fresh, and the flavors blend beautifully. My girlfriend got the French onion soup, and that looked amazing. She said it tasted really good. We both ordered the filet mignon, and she wanted hers medium rare, and I wanted mine cooked medium. While both steaks were excellent, neither one was cooked as requested, and both were pretty rare. I'm going to let that slide, since everything else was so good. The smoked Gouda Mac and cheese is so damn good, I want the recipe. It's very creamy and delicious. The Brussels sprouts with bacon were excellent and I could eat a bowl of just that. We will definitely be back, and totally understand all the accolades now. Two thumbs up.“

I'm not sure if she had other guests as well. Drink prices are very high in my opinion. A tall mich ultra draft is $6.50, a 12 oz yuengling was $6. Parking is also a problem, very limited & tight. “We were having a party and decided to use a caterer. We chose Daveeds. From the beginning, it was very easy to deal with them. Their communication was excellent. The menu planning was so easy because Liz Cook was extremely helpful the entire way. Once here at our home, Mary, Alex and Joel were all fabulous. They did such a good job bartending, cooking, serving and cleaning. You never had to ask them to do anything because they were on it. And the food was fabulous. Everybody at the party enjoyed Daveeds. We will absolutely use them again and recommend them highly.“

I got a huge California burrito for $14 however, my brother ordered the ribeye and it tasted good but was very thin and not worth the $20+ price. “Laid back place for brunch. I visited for the first time in years. Sat at the "bar" service was fairly quick and my server was friendly. I got the Nashville hot chicken and waffles. Chicken breast was a little small, the Nashville hot sauce was WAY too spicy for me, I'm glad I tried a dab before pouring it on my chicken. The waffle and "syrup" were a good combo. My sister had the same thing plus shrimp and the shrimp ruined her whole meal. I knew it would that’s why I opted out of adding shrimp.The shrimp for Alfredo should be grilled or seared. They serve was appears to be raw shrimp that has been heated.I’m giving 4 stars because the food is delicious, service was great and the place was clean. I’d just recommend that you don’t get the shrimp Alfredo. I also recommend they remove it from the menu (it’s really that bad) even the appearance of the shrimp will make you not want to eat the dish. If I hadn’t had the same thing she may have never even tasted the plate.
