“Cincinnati is an interesting pizza town. Our claim to fame, as it were, is regional chain LaRosa’s. Its success cannot be denied, but surf any Reddit thread or Facebook thread discussing Cincinnati pizza, and you’ll find a particular disdain for our hometown pizzeria, with most negative comments saying it’s overrated, the sauce is too sweet, or it smells of feet/vomit. Yes really. Our other regional chain with some notoriety is Dewey’s, a more “upscale” style pizza joint that appeals to hipsters and families. The seasonal Tito Santana taco pizza is a revelation. Dewey’s also has its detractors citing price as the main complaint. The rest of the scene is local chains like Angilos and Grammas serving serviceable “homestyle” pizzas and steak hoagies, a handful of wood-fired pizza places, and an even smaller handful of New York-style pie places. And of course national chains like Domino’s and Pizza Hut. Among the crowded scene is Lucy Blue. A local micro chain with two locations serving something between Angilo’s and Dewey’s. Lucy Blue built it reputation with pizza windows in downtown and Mt. Lookout. More recently, their two locations are in the suburbs of Anderson Township and in the always-happening Over the Rhine area in the urban basin. Lucy Blue’s menu skews more toward Dewey’s than Gramma’s. Just two pages featuring standard pizzas and expected toppings, fresh salads, a few sandwiches including the requisite steak hoagie and a few appetizers. Missing is the litany of fried items that crowd Angilo’s and Grammas menus. The focus here is on freshness and simplicity. And fresh is what you get. In spades. Every item we’ve tried has been fresh and high quality. The crust is bready and structurally sound. The sauce is fresh and tomatoey. The cheese has a bite and pull that you’d expect from higher quality pizza kitchens. Toppings like pepperoni, sausage, and veggies all seem high quality and tasty. The steak hoagie is much better than the sloppy, buttery messes you get at most places. The meat was tasty and the toppings were crisp and plentiful. The breadsticks were very good. They were short but heavy and flavorful, and the sauce accompanying them was chunky and flavorful. There is a tiny spicy bite to everything, including the delicious ranch dressing. Overall, Lucy Blue is an excellent option among Cincinnati’s many pizza spots. The food is fresh and tasty.“

I liked the way they had the pickles & Dijon mustard on the side, I used both & the pickles seemed homemade. My side was coleslaw & that was delish as well. I ordered online for pickup & even though they had a lot of cars in the drive through, my order was made quickly. I definitely recommend!!“

“First off, we were here for dinner time around 5p, and we were the only people in the restaurant. That concerned us to say the least. But we were traveling, hungry and wanted something to eat now. So we went ahead and ordered. I am a firefighter in my home town. I get subs at Jersey Mike's a lot and they are pretty much my standard as to what a good sub should taste like. DiBellas is much better, actually much much much better. I got a club as I always do. You instantly can tell in the first bite that every ingredient on the sandwich was high quality. The meat, bread, the veggies were fresh and crisp, it was just awesome. Like, I Guess I didn't know my favorite sandwiches were lacking this much until I ate here. I realized I didn't get their oil dressing add on, so I went and asked for a little to add to my sandwich. Game changer!!! When we were done, we were so impressed with the sandwiches that we tried their cookies. Blown away there too. How in the hell was this place empty at 5-530p?! I don't get it, you locals better wake up. Hopefully they are slammed at lunch time. This isn't a place I'd want to lose.“

I completely understand not giving times due to how people can be, but when we order and aren’t told a time, and it’s been an hour and a half….it gets a little frustrating. He always makes sure my food is all correct before just leaving & both times he’s noticed i was EXTREMELY pregnant. “We dined in at the Montgomery Rd location. We love their food because they have lots of healthy food choices, & their food is always fresh. As we were being served our food, I knocked over a large glass of water. The server saw it happen. She did nothing to try to help clean up the mess. The water went all the way to the floor. I had to go to the counter and ask for a towel because she just walked away. She didn't even offer to bring me a fresh glass of water. She showed no concern for the fact that our meal was pretty much ruined.

Vegetarian options: I love their tomato, cucumber salad. I always get that with a wrap. Not knowing how things are prepared, I can't say that it's vegan, but they have good vegetable options.“
