Based on the reviews, Chicken Shack is a restaurant in a cool building with a good vibe, casual ambience, TVs, music, and kitschy decor. It has circulating fans but no AC. The parking is fine, though it can be hard to find a spot when there is an event at a nearby venue. The food is tasty, with the fried chicken being outstanding, crispy on the outside, and moist and juicy on the inside. The green beans are delicious with a nice kick of spice, the baked beans are yummy, and the fried okra is decent. The mac and cheese is pretty good but could use improvement. However, the portion sizes have shrunk, and the family sides would maybe feed 2 people at most. The food is a bit pricey for what it is. Service can be inconsistent; sometimes it takes a long time to get food, and customers may not get drink refills or silverware. Other times, the staff is excellent, making special events like a wedding dinner special. The restrooms are very rustic and may not close properly.
