It's probably been 40 years since me and my wife ate a charcoal oven. The food reminded us of days when we were in our teens. The Cock-A-Doodle chicken was fantastic. The service staff was able to deconstruct it so it would not get soggy on a long trip back. I got the mushroom in Swiss burger and I was so happy!!! The Charcoal Oven Restaurant, previously located on northwest expressway in OKC for several decades, has recently moved to a new location at 36th and May. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, with a focus on burgers that are said to be delicious, including their famous Bacon Cheeseburger and the fresh, flavorful Chick-A-Doodle-Do. Customers enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere, welcoming environment, and great customer service. The menu hasn’t changed over the years, keeping favorites like the BLT sandwich, onion rings, and well-done fries. While some note the name can be misleading as they use a flame broiler, the food looks and smells amazing, and orders come quickly. Many long-time fans, some since the early 60's, still savor every bite and give the place high marks. Prices are on the higher side, but the experience remains top-notch.
