“Been to Mary Brown’s on Upper James for the first time today. Restaurant was very clean. Anand was super nice and helped me choose the right amount of food for me and my daughter. Chicken was fresh and very tasty (better than KFC). However, I found the taters and gravy to be a little salty. The coleslaw was very good if you like it very creamy. Will definitely return, thanks Anand!“

“Stopped by Charred last night during the Hamilton Art Crawl, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our evening. Given how packed the area gets during Art Crawl nights, we weren't sure we'd manage to get a table without a long wait, but we got lucky and were seated fairly quickly.

We ordered the chicken with slaw, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavour, while the slaw added a nice crunchy, refreshing contrast to balance out the richness of the dish. To go with our meal, we had a draft Lager, which was crisp and refreshing, exactly what you want on a hot summer evening.

We also asked for the Spicy sauce on the side, expecting to need it to kick things up a notch. But honestly, the chicken was so well-seasoned and tasty on its own that the sauce ended up being more of a bonus than a necessity.

What really stood out, though, was the service. Despite the restaurant being busy with the Art Crawl crowd, our server was fast, attentive, and polite throughout the meal. It's clear the team knows how to handle a rush without compromising on hospitality.

Overall, Charred offers a great combination of quality food, good drinks, and friendly service, all in a lively atmosphere. Whether you're grabbing a bite during Art Crawl or just looking for a solid spot in Hamilton, I'd highly recommend checking this place out. We'll definitely be back!

“We were up in Waterdown, ON today doing some banking and shopping, we were a bit hungry. Popeye’s had a special on, consisting of (2) chicken tenders, fries, (1) biscuit and (1) medium soft drink. They food took a bit to be prepared and cooked, but the wait was worth it. The chicken tenders were nice and fresh and hot, tender white breast meat, coated with Popeye’s unique crunchy batter. The batter wasn’t greasy at all, the fries were fried up nicely and seasoned, the buttermilk biscuit was fresh and nice and warm. The soda had just enough ice, to cool it down (fountain drinks) wasn’t flat. All this for $5.99 + HST. We had (1) special each, very inexpensive lunch. Very enjoyable on this particular day. Friendly service on hand and store facilities were clean.“

“Food is really good, fast paced and hard working staff, I have seen the same green eyed girl at the cashier and she always greets my with a bright smile and remembered my usual order. I definitely recommend this place for a warm meal after a long day.“

“This is the best fried chicken in Hamilton, it beats juicy birds, Popeyes, KFC, Mary browns and churches, the chicken was amazing, the fries were unbelievable, very crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, the customer service was amazing too, we called and they didn’t answer but they called back and answered all our questions during the dinner rush, hands down the best experience we have had.“

“Amazing service. The guy at the front counter is super sweet, nice and actually listened, I said I hadn't eaten all day and came out with fresh fries and chicken for me to eat while I was waiting. Chicken and fries were super crispy and flavorful. Its people like this that make the world better. “I came by very late last night just after they closed and the manager made sure I still had a nice warm meal. It was freezing and it was beyond appreciated.
