“Island Bakery and Take Out is truly a hidden gem in Scarborough for anyone who appreciates good food and genuine service. I have been buying food from this place for over 15 years, and the quality and consistency have kept me coming back.
The food here is tasty, well prepared, and full of authentic Sri Lankan Tamil flavors. At the same time, the menu also appeals to Caribbean customers, which speaks to how well balanced and approachable the food is. Whether you are familiar with Sri Lankan cuisine or trying it for the first time, the flavors are comforting and satisfying. Portions are generous, and the food feels home style rather than commercial.
The staff are always really nice, polite, and welcoming. You are treated like a regular, not just another customer passing through. The owner deserves special mention. He is a very friendly and hardworking gentleman who clearly takes pride in his business. You can tell a lot of effort goes into maintaining quality and keeping customers happy.
This place is also an excellent option for catering. I would strongly recommend Island Bakery and Take Out for functions, gatherings, and events where you want reliable food that people will actually enjoy and remember. Over the years, they have proven to be dependable and consistent, which matters a lot when ordering for a group.

“Sheger is a nice place if you want to shop ethiopian spices and herbs as well as raw,unroasted coffee.They have a variety of products from fresh meat,lamb chops, ground meat to baked injera and cheese .he is friendly and hospitable. I like visiting the place and overtime it is fresh.“

“Food is good. I'm a customer for a long time. Portions are good but not like before. Some staffs not all of them, too concerned about how much food they put in the box especially briyani. They scan every rice of the briyani with their eyes. We don't ask you to put a lot but Don't be too picky and measure everything. Some of them are rude but the owner is very nice.“

“We had Maria do up 2 large platters, a fruit platter, 2 letter trays and candy cones. We were extremely happy when she delivered them. They were a hit with all of the guests.
