When we first walked in, the music was pretty loud, but they quickly turned it down for us, which was nice. They have karaoke too, and the sound system is awesome. “In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

“My first time here using Too Good To Go app, the plate was generous and delicious. I really enjoyed the pasta. I went up the wrong entrance, so I called and they were helpful guiding me to other set of stairs (closer towards highland farms). Noticed a bbq drum stored at the wrong entrance, i can't wait for summertime bbq!!! I had to wait a bit (10-15 min) for the food but it came out hot and delicious!“

We had the most wonderful anniversary dinner at Stakeout, and this place absolutely deserves all the praise. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel special—and they went above and beyond by surprising us with a complimentary drink to celebrate the occasion.

The standout of the evening was undoubtedly the ribeye steak. Cooked to absolute perfection with a beautiful crust and tender, juicy center, it was accompanied by an incredibly rich and creamy brown sauce that elevated every bite. The presentation alone was stunning—this is clearly a kitchen that cares about both flavor and artistry.
Our sides were equally impressive. The lobster mac and cheese was decadent and indulgent—golden, creamy, and loaded with generous pieces of lobster. It’s comfort food elevated to fine dining. We also enjoyed fresh green beans and roasted beetroot paired with silky mashed potatoes that rounded out the meal beautifully.

What really sealed the deal were the fresh oysters we started with—a perfect appetizer that set the tone for the evening.

Beyond the exceptional food, the staff’s attentiveness and genuine warmth made the whole experience memorable. They remembered it was our anniversary and treated us like valued guests rather than just another table.

If you’re looking for an outstanding steakhouse experience without having to drive far, Stakeout is your answer. Excellent food, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that feels special. We’re already planning our next visit!

“This is a MUST GO TO Restaurant. I went for breakfast on March 20/23. My experience started with the best service from General Manager Gary Anthony. He was friendly, informative, and fast. The breakfast menu has everything. I love Eggs Bennie. While my style was not on the menu, Gary made it happen anyway. THE BEST EGGS BENNIE EVER! Gary recommended the Banana/Orange/Strawberry juice (it says fresh on the menu). I asked if it was "that grocery store brand" that shall not be named here. He said NO, we made it fresh from real fruit in the blender. It was like a smoothie from heaven. I will return often. While I live about 30 - 40 k from this restaurant (I had an appointment near it that morning) - I will be returning again and often. Next time I'm bringing my wife - She'll love it. Thank you Gary.“

“First time at this place last night and it was pretty fun! The room we had was pretty big considering the amount of people we had in our party. The karaoke machine had awesome selection for English, K-pop and other languages! I will say the microphones didn’t work at first through first 3 songs we did. The dart machine on our room had only one dart that wasn’t broken so if you wanna have people playing the darts you should fix that for sure. And the washrooms were pretty smelly in my opinion. Overall I still had a good time!“

They used to be better. Regan the manager was professional for the most part.
