“Stopped in here during the middle of a bike ride. Jeff (name on the receipt) was amazing. We were the only ones eating outside, and he made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our meal. The outside seating was very clean and well maintained. Food was above average for the cost. We will definitely be stopping by more often. “Friday nights are a blast at this place. It's a local dive bar so def keep that in mind. Fast service and great bartender, she's sassy and fun. The Friday night special is Chicken Yakisoba and the owner is the cook. It's the best chicken I've ever had. Call ahead of time to reserve the special- it sells out within the hour after they start serving it at 5pm. Bar food is available all night and burgers and sandwiches till 10pm. Usually open until 2:30”

“I thought I would try the bakery my daughter keeps taking about. There was a group of people ordering when I arrived, but my wait time was short. Their pastry cases are packed with individual slices of cake and the selection ranges from the traditional (the "Afterschool", which is yellow cake iced with chocolate buttercream) to the fancy (Champagne , white cake filled with champagne mousse, iced in buttercream). I selected the Raspberry Lemonade (Lemon cake filled with lemon filling and fresh raspberries, iced in raspberry cream cheese icing). My slice was generous and tasted as good as it looked. I took my slice to go, but they have a great area for sitting. I'm already planning what I'll try next time and can't wait to serve one of their creations at our next family event!”

“Sat in a booth. Large amounts of space in the both. Sometimes controversial… but my uncles big belly would be comfortable here.. I got the grilled cheese with goat cheese and tomatoes and enjoyed it. I also got a lavender gin sour— it was amazing that I ended up with a second. My entire bill including tip was $30!!! & that was a Monday night Dinner! There was also a game room and a lounge seating I would’ve liked to explore. “Chen's Family Dish is a wonderful surprise in an unassuming location. While what we first ordered wasn't what we expected, it was our own fault for not asking more about the dish. Despite that, they were so sweet about offering another dish and even taking the first off our check; all without us asking.Excellent customer service aside, Chen's has a very relaxing atmosphere and comfortable seating in booths or at tables. On top of that, our food was quickly served and very tasty.For more detail, we ordered the Sesame Chicken, which turned out to be more of a stir fry with onions. My wife has an onion allergy, but it was completely our fault for not asking. I've never seen Sesame Chicken served with onions, and I didn't consider it, but you never know! I was still happy with the dish overall, and she ended up getting the sweet and sour chicken instead. It was crispy, excellently breaded, and fried white chicken. With a fantastic sauce.Overall, it is a real hidden gem in Salem. If you're looking for great customer service in a soothing atmosphere with delicious food, give them a chance.Parking: We arrived at 7:30pm and found more than ample parking available.”

“He is a one-man shop but his food is a comfort to my kids! They love his curry, karaage, tonkatsu and his croquettes that he sometimes packs for us! It may take some time since he makes things on his own but, like his former place on 12th Street, the owner is very kind and courteous to all of his customers. He is expanding his menu slowly to bring back favorites and to try new things so it's always a delight to check in and see what he has to offer.”

“I’m not usually a doughnut person….most are too heavy, too much sugar, weird aftertaste. WHEN I TELL YOU….these are THE BEST, I ABSOLUTELY mean it!
