These sandwiches are SO good! I’ve been to the Portland location several times and was so excited to see one on this side of town. The space is super nice and staff are really friendly and helpful.
I lived in Fukui, Japan for many years! When I heard I can get a katsu sandwich in Gresham and downtown, I was beyond excited. I have to say these sandwiches have the exact same deliciousness as the sandwiches in Japan! I can’t stress enough how EVERYTHING at Tanaka is authentic and mouthwatering! It’s the best restaurant I’ve had in Portland/Gresham, and add in amazing customer service like Megan and others, it’s hands down a 100/10 😋

Based on customer reviews, TANAKA offers delicious sandwiches, including Pork and Chicken Katsu Sandos, an Egg Sando, and a Chicken Katsu Sandwich. The fries are the best kind with an extra crispy outside, and the Curry aioli is delicious for dipping. A Chocolate Chip Miso cookie was yum. The Strawberry and Sakura Matcha is high quality, considered the best matcha in Gresham. The Yuzu Donut looked beautiful. Food is incredible, prepared to order, fresh and hot, with portion sizes much bigger than expected. The place is clean and tidy. Service is excellent, fast, and friendly with a self ordering tablet. However, the Tanaka combo button on the screen is misleading, showing a sandwich but only ordering fries and a drink. Customer service could use a little more smile and energy. Prices are very reasonable. Parking can be a little tricky.
