Schuss Grill Mt. Hood Meadows

This past month was one of the worst weather months ever at the mountain; the grooming team at MHM did an AMAZING job moving the snow, setting up the runs, keeping a variety open. I couldn't believe how great everything ran this past weekend; they made 3" of snow feel like 15. Awesome work everyone.

Mt hood meadows is not managed like a skiers mountain. Instead, it seems like out of touch fair weather skiers in Portland make the call and at just about every turn, it's the wrong one. For just instance, and there are many more, It's the earliest opening in 15 years, there's plenty of snow to be in operation, so they do a "preview weekend" and then shut down Monday-Wed until reopening for the season on Thursday. Skiing with my partner and 9 year old- getting off the lift my 9 year old took me out and we both went down hard. I got pretty beat up by his ski edges, we both struggled to get up. The response of the nearby employee was to yell at us to “hurry up”. Really appreciate their attention to safety and commitment to understanding, patience and empathy.
