4 Best Pubs in Newport

“(8/26 visit-Wed. & Fri. early evening; tourist months)

This place was one of the favorite stops on our week trip to Newport. We enjoyed it so much on the first visit, we stopped back in on a Friday night and maybe enjoyed it even more!

I think the shining gem is the ambiance, for sure! SUPER cozy and warm locals vibe. Lighting is perfect. Atmosphere is lively without being over the top. 2 TVs placed without being front and center. Bar top is just perfect...long bar-top and AWESOME custom seats! This is an order-from-the-bar-spot, so take heed; there is no table service.

Next would be beer and food. They only had 3 of their own brewed beers there, but had an eclectic and diverse selection of beer, Cider and N/As as well. All three of their beers were great, but I REALLY loved the Berlinerweisse. The Woodruff flavor was recommended and I am still thinking about that beer two weeks later-hahaha. SO good. Also worth noting: they have a small spirits selection and DO make cocktails as well!

Food is a unique, pub-grub-sandwich-and munchies menu- perfect for the size of the place and small kitchen. The best part, is they were fairly priced and of good value. We sampled the artichoke dip, nacho dip, pretzel basket, grilled cheese, Ruben puff pastry, and Cuban Sammy over the course of two visits. All were tasty and perfect for our appetites. The Cuban was our favorite overall- it was surprisingly LEGIT!

This place is kid-friendly until 9pm, and there is a back game room area (w/seating) and outdoor seating that is great for accommodating families. This was a perfect refuge from the tourist havens and corporate spots- it saved us on a Friday night at 7pm, when the tourist traps are packed. It gave us an amazing 2 hours with a relaxed vibe before their own locals rush started!

Service wasnt overly friendly, but prompt, efficient and patient through menu questions. It was much appreciated. Dont miss this locals place- such a fantastic spot in Newport!“

“My wife and I traveling the NW, stopped inti Barge Inn Tavern, and had a great time sitting at the bar chit chatting with patrons and bartenders and chef, all good people there. Loved the tall blonde that was bartending, and also sold use two of their t-shirts. It's been over a year since our visit but hope to return someday. Sorry for the late review 😎“
