It’s a small, tucked-away spot that we only share with a handful of people because we love being able to stop in and enjoy a fresh, consistently amazing bowl of ramen without the crowd. The quality is always spot on, no matter the day. The waitress always remembers our order, which makes it feel like home, and the cook always greets us with a smile. That kind of warmth and consistency is rare, and it’s one of the many reasons we keep coming back. “Hands down one of the best sandwich places I’ve had. Fully appreciate the variety of the vegetarian friendly sandwiches. Got the Fresh Prince, which doesn’t come with cheese and I debated adding it, but i didn’t and I didn’t miss it! The flavors are so well balanced and delicious, the sour dough was just awesome. Everything together was phenomenal, and I immediately wanted more.“

“I came for one beer and left with three new friends, a minor existential crisis, and a T-shirt I don’t remember buying. Civic Taproom is like Cheers, if Cheers had 20+ rotating taps and everyone was slightly more hipster.

The bartender had the beard of a lumberjack and the pour skills of a Michelin-star sommelier. I asked for something “hoppy but emotionally supportive,” and he nailed it. The IPA hugged my soul while whispering, “You’re doing your best.”

Also, shoutout to the bathrooms for being cleaner than my apartment. 10/10 would hide from my responsibilities here again.“

“Great spot to catch a game or just have a few quality poured beers. Staff is super nice and accommodating. Grab some wings from Fire on the Mountain across the street and wash them down. Very interesting people watching on the patio as the MAX stop is on the same block.“

“On top of the food being amazing, if you eat-in, they serve you, and the food is plated in a really nice way! The employees we interacted with were so nice!!! (Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the food/presentation, we were too busy shoving the delicious food in our faces) but the food was amazing, chicken was crispy and the soy garlic flavor was very pleasant, fries were thick and crispy, and the sauces were a good match. “John's Marketplace is my favourite place to go. Awesome beer selection, good food, and owned by some awesome people. I also appreciate that the Hall Blvd location has a dog friendly patio.“

“This is another gem in the McMenamins line of fun, historical establishments - and by far my favorite! Been here many times over the years - actually even had my very first lobster roll EVER here (as a special item years ago) and it was amazing. The vibe is so quirky - you definitely feel like you’re walking the halls of your old elementary school - except there are bars and a lively restaurant and even a brewery haha!! The staff has always been super welcoming and friendly. The food at their main Courtyard Restaurant has always been great. On my last visit (July 2023), I had their chicken salad sandwich on croissant and it was SO GOOD!! Even their tater tots were perfectly cooked. And they even have some of the best iced tea I’ve had outside of the south! Their menu changes seasonally so it’s always a treat to try something new. After eating, leave time to explore - the grounds are just gorgeous and you’ll get lost in the nostalgia as you wander around the old school’s hallways. They have several bars - one is huge and has total steampunk vibes. They have a small hotel and a salt water pool - even the bathrooms are beautiful. I’d definitely like to stay here next time - but I imagine it can be a tad spooky at night haha! The school opened back in 1915 so it’s a historic building. The wall art is gorgeous and there are lots of info signs and historical pics scattered around. It’s in a good location in north Portland with plenty of parking and easy to find. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!“

“Great local taproom. They play great music on a double record player, and great live music on the weekends. The cider in particular is very good. The food is hot or miss, the pizza is great if a little pricey, the apps and sandwiches are getting better.

Wheelchair accessibility: Not easily accessed by wheelchair that I could see. At least one or 2 steps at every entrance.“

“This is our go to local wine bar. Great selection. Good prices (most are average retail price and there's corkage for opening a bottle on site. I think they waive corkage on bottles over $45 at the time I'm writing this. The food is good, I just wish they had more (intersting) veg options.“

“My husband and I wandered in here on a whim on a Friday night and ended up being pleasantly surprised by the food! We both had Gorges burgers and I had a Mt. Defiance imperial IPA. The burger was cooked to perfection and the beer was delicious. Service was great, too. We’ll be back!“
