“Excellent cider experience from this Portland based cidery. Steve and I shared their Hineycrisp flavored cider and really enjoyed it. The flavor profile is dry, not too sweet, crisp clean and tart. Along with an apple flavor of course they prepared this cider with fermented champagne yeast. The apples are relatively local as they come from Washington and Oregon. The most refreshing I saw with this cider was it's dry finish. Very enjoyable cider all the way around!“
“Jeff, the patron, has filled the establishment with his own eclectic mix of offerings. The choices of beer and wine demonstrate that the selection has been planned for diversity and enjoyment. The atmosphere is great and feels like the neighborhood bar that we want to walk to.“
“AleFire = beer and hot sauce. That’s a damn good balance, like yin and yang. It’s a spot to chill and have some beers. But also for just stopping by and picking up some good hot sauce. There are three full refrigerators of hot sauce choices. Staff is helpful if you want to find something new.“
“At least 20 ciders on tap. Wide variety of styles and tastes. Most are apple-based, but a number are blends with other things. Some of the ciders, have no apple in them at all.A very enjoyable place, and for what I tasted the ciders were very good!“
“New favorite!I stopped in to check it out and hang with a friend. It was amazing! If you love cider, you need to swing in and probably make it a regular stop. They have 25 rotating cider taps, a couple of beer taps, and various small bites (hummus and pita, chips and salsa, tots, salads). The 25 ciders are from a variety of cideries, including a house cider. They fill growlers, have crowlers, and offer flights of 4 or 6, 5oz ciders.“
“This is another gem in the McMenamins line of fun, historical establishments - and by far my favorite! Been here many times over the years - actually even had my very first lobster roll EVER here (as a special item years ago) and it was amazing. The vibe is so quirky - you definitely feel like you’re walking the halls of your old elementary school - except there are bars and a lively restaurant and even a brewery haha!! The staff has always been super welcoming and friendly. The food at their main Courtyard Restaurant has always been great. On my last visit (July 2023), I had their chicken salad sandwich on croissant and it was SO GOOD!! Even their tater tots were perfectly cooked. And they even have some of the best iced tea I’ve had outside of the south! Their menu changes seasonally so it’s always a treat to try something new. After eating, leave time to explore - the grounds are just gorgeous and you’ll get lost in the nostalgia as you wander around the old school’s hallways. They have several bars - one is huge and has total steampunk vibes. They have a small hotel and a salt water pool - even the bathrooms are beautiful. I’d definitely like to stay here next time - but I imagine it can be a tad spooky at night haha! The school opened back in 1915 so it’s a historic building. The wall art is gorgeous and there are lots of info signs and historical pics scattered around. It’s in a good location in north Portland with plenty of parking and easy to find. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!“
“Love this place! The by-the-glass list is ever-changing and never boring. All the ciders & wines I’ve tasted there have been smashable, and the owner is a great guy. They also have an awesome selection of fun ciders and wines by the bottle so you’ll never get bored.“
