Found out about Jake's when looking for a nice restaurant to try while visiting Portland. Couldn't have picked a better place, the atmosphere was lovely, the staff had infectious positive attitudes, and the food was fantastic. Exceptionally well grilled steak. Perfect wine service by the owner or manager. Our hostess was initially slow (had to ask for items several times) and not that accommodating (joined by elderly mother - came w. walker) - she "warmed" up later as the order value well superseded the average for two patrons. In the end the two plusses supersede the less desirable third listed factor - I will definitely return (probably my 10th visit in the past 2.5 yrs at this establishment).
Prime rib, creamy garlic mashed, grilled asparagus and excellent service. Garage parking a block away. No intrusive music. Shrimp salad worked for the ladies.

Jake's Grill offers a dependable service, excellent food, and a comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant serves a variety of dishes, including steak frites, Cobb salad, house burger, and prime rib, with some steaks ranking among the top 5. The steak is amazing and the salmon with crab and shrimp is wonderful. The clam chowder was also wonderful. Happy hour and late night supper menus are also available. The service is wonderful and accommodating, with staff offering food and drink options. The food is delicious and the experience is very nice. Food selections work well for seafood and beef lovers. While the ambiance and service are great, some find the prices over the top for the value. Check-in could have been smoother.
