Gallo Nero Reviews
Legitimately one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever experienced in the US. I have lived in Italy and my husband is Italian and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our dinner.
The wine selection is varied and thoughtfully curated. We enjoyed a bottle of Sardinian Carignano which is a rare find in the states.
The prices are more than reasonable. We had a lovely locally sourced steak that melted in the mouth for $32. Bread is homemade fresh TWICE daily...read full review

I have to say that Trattoria Gallo Nero provides one of the most authentic experiences in Portland, when it comes to Italian cuisine. The restaurant organized a special event, featuring the wines of Franco Serra, paired with the chef's 4 course meal! The chef, cooks, servers and the rest of the staff are kind and attentive, plus the food is magnificent! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Based on the reviews, Gallo Nero offers a delicious and authentic Italian dining experience. The food is made with care and high-quality ingredients, featuring dishes like swordfish/caper, lasagna, pear raviolis, and a pasta sampler. Some dishes, however, can be smaller portioned and descriptions can be misleading, so asking questions is recommended. The wine options are amazing and affordable. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and feels like true Italy, with a cozy and lively vibe. Service is excellent, with attentive and knowledgeable staff, and the chef even checks on guests personally. The restaurant is not like a chain, with no unlimited breadsticks, but instead serves fresh, balanced pasta and sauces. Overall, it is an amazing experience that leaves guests happy and excited to return.
