“My most American trait is that I eat more burgers than any other food. That said, the bacon cheeseburger here is simply the best I have ever had in my life. It's definitely my favorite burger in Pittsburgh. It is a 9.5/10 or better nearly every time. The grainy mustard and mayo is genius. The fries are also great. Service is typically solid even when they're busy.“

“Great Food and Atmosphere, Some Service Concerns I recently moved to the Braddock Hills area and was excited to revisit this spot, which used to be Folie’s a few years back. The food here is absolutely delicious, and it’s the perfect place to grab a bite, enjoy a margarita, and relax. That said, I’ve had a few experiences with a particular staff member that were concerning. While most of the team has been friendly and welcoming, However, barmaid (JESS who served me February the 7th around 1:49 p.m.) has been noticeably short and dismissive on a couple of occasions. For example, there were times when she rolled her eyes or responded curtly when I greeted her, even though previous visits had been pleasant. I even had an instance where my drink was placed at the very edge of the bar in a way that felt intentionally difficult. I did call to bring this to the manager’s attention to address it, no and she allegedly answered the phone as the manager, and to my experience the manager is a gentleman as well as the owner. I wanted to share it here as well. I’ve spoken with other patrons who’ve noted that her personality can sometimes affect the overall experience. While I understand everyone can have an off day, consistent professionalism and courtesy are essential in customer service, especially in a neighborhood gem like this one. Overall, I truly enjoy this restaurant—the food, ambiance, and most of the staff make it a wonderful place. “Visiting Pittsburgh over the weekend and couldn’t miss our Buckeyes vs TTUN. Mike’s Beer Bar was recommended, and it was hands down one of the best game day bar experiences we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was incredible, drink menu (both on tap and cans) showing a plethora of choices to satisfy anyone, and great food. The staff was second to none and very friendly as well. Already looking forward to our next visit!“
“When you think of a dive bar, this is the place I want you to think of. Little hole-in-the-wall place with not a lot of seats, but it was always full.\nThe most amazing thing about Shale's was that when I ordered food, they had a grill outside and a dude just going to town cooking up double cheeseburgers for all the patrons.\nHe was amazing to talk to, and the burgers were excellent.“
“I ate before arriving, so I didn’t have any of the food. But the kitchen was pumping out orders the entire time I was there. Drinks were generous with alcohol. Bartender was nice. “Aside from a ‘Wing Snafu’ where I ordered General Tso’s wings and received Buffalo… the food & drinks today (3/25/26) was all DELICIOUS…! General Tso’s cauliflauer, Chicken Nachos, Burgers, Salmon Wraps, wings…. Damn, ALL THAT… Was Delicious…! I just wish I lived closer TO THIS LOCATION..! And btw- the server/owner took my wings off the bill. If you’ve ever driven past this place and wondered how the food was… GO IN. You WILL NOT be disappointed. I’m sitting here, over an hour later, tasting those wings and wondering why I didn’t order some to go. ITS THAT GOOD…!“

Their one employee i believe his name was Ron held the door opened for all of us to enter the restaurant. Food was amazing place was very very clean. Everyone was very nice and polite. “I had their ham BBQ sandwich and it was so good. My girlfriend and I split the fried pickles which had bacon bits on it which was unique and very flavorful. The size of the pickles were also surprising because they were big and tasty. It has a nice atmosphere and if you go around the holidays you'll see some nice Christmas aesthetics. The service was also really good and fast with our waiting staff and servers checking on us frequently and bringing us our food quickly and efficiently. I will be returning with more people next time so they can know how awesome this place is.“

“Our first time in Pittsburgh visiting from St. Louis to watch some baseball. Food and atmosphere was amazing… Service was great. We highly recommend. Dre was the bartender and she was so good. The Pittsburgh cheesesteak was delicious.!“
