Rusty Nail Tavern / Nightclub Dive Bar • $
2580 Haverford Rd, Ardmore

“A staple of the Philly local music scene. The Nail has been there forever and I'm always thrilled to go back - as a performer or as an audience member! It's a proud dive bar - if you don't want that atmosphere, go somewhere else. If you want to go somewhere where local music feels very alive and intimate, with a very kind family running and working the venue, come to the Nail.I've been playing here for 15 years and consistently have had incredible experiences.“

“So many watering holes in this area. Oscar's feels like the only campfire. I spent 2 days in Center City and came here both days. D was my bartender and welcomed me, remembered my name and my drink. Locals were beyond friendly. On a solo work trip when I felt alone without my family, I truly felt at home at Oscar's. Can't recommend bellying up and shooting the sh*t more. Love Oscar's.“

“Als Touristen sind wir ohne große Erwartungen ins Dirty Frank's. Wir wurden im Prinzip am ersten Tag schon als Stammgäste angesehen. Ab dem zweiten Tag, fühlten wir uns auch so. Absolut super Service, sehr nette Menschen im der Bar. Coole Jukebox, günstige Getränke. Sollte es uns jemals wieder nach Philly verschlagen, wird Dirty Frank's Bar das Erste sein, was wir besuchen werden.“

The Dive Bar • $
947 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia - 8.44 miles

“Stepping inside is kind of like visiting Cheers, even if you've never been here before. Everybody's friendly. You're sure to strike up a conversation at the bar with staff or other customers. The draft list is surprisingly decent and always rotating, but there's always a great bottles and cans menu. It's been a while since I've ventured up to the 2nd or 3rd floor, but there's a lot to explore, including a pool table. There's lots of fun stuff on the walls and behind the bar, and the ambiance is usually pretty decent unless an idiot tries to troll everyone on the TouchTunes. It really is the definition of a dive, if only every other one was this nice to spend a couple hours in.“

“I live down the street from this place and I really enjoy coming here. It doesn't get too crowded and the drinks are really cheap. It is a smoking bar, so be prepared. They make great sandwiches, but the kitchen closes pretty early. The bartenders are always on point and nice, and the other patrons are friendly. They have shuffle bowling, pool, and darts, too. Check it out if you're in the area and feel like hanging out at a gem if a dive bar.“

“Me and the homey were looking for a place to chill after a concert, randomly, We saw this place. We took a chance and illegally parked out front. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted by friendly people . The bartender, whose name I can't remember was amazing. She signed me, and my other friend Shawn up for pool, so that we can mingle with the other patrons. Had an awesome time. Next time were in South Philly, this is the destination!“

Mickey's Tavern Bar • $$
129 S State Rd, Upper Darby - 3.19 miles

“I been going to Mickey's for over 30 years. I took my Sean to the dentist across the street. So I wandered in and all the friends I made back in the day were there and remembered me. The bartender remembered the day my wife Patrice died, I held her in my arms til her last breath. Her will to live was so powerful that she pulled the whole oxygen tent into her mouth. When she finally let it out that was it.I told everyone that I was staying. Eventually people stated to leave but I wouldn't let go of my precious girlI couldn't accept it. Our Heather finally had to leaveI stayed and held her until she lost all her color and turned to ice. I realized she was gone. And I finally could stop cuddling her like she loved.I walked out of that hospital in a trance. I drove down to Mickey's and walked in but I couldn't talk. The guys knew something was wrong. They were giving me space . I got a vodka and went to the front door to just gaze at the sky. The bartender came over and asked if I was alright. Stood in the doorway with me.Almost instantly the sky opened up and the fiercest hail storm We ever seen just came outta nowhere and everyone was in awe, gaping at the intensity and I turned around and said Patrice just died and these are the tears of heaven ? ?They were stunned, they all loved her!!Anyone that knew her loved her. You could not help it. I was the luckiest man in the world ⚘️ and suddenly she was gone. Beem 15 years and I still grieve.I cry every time I have to talk about her.ICry when I think about her. So today in Mickey's I was overwhelmed with emotions when they welcomed me and remembered that Hailstorm . I cried uncontrollable. I am just trying to get this out my friends. Sometimes it helps“

Mikey's Place Bar • $
439 MacDade Boulevard, Folsom - 8.36 miles

“Stopped in on a whim, I'm a out of Towner and was seeking advice for things to do in the area. Bruce the Bartender was very friendly and courteous. He quickly gave me advice on the local places to visit off the beat and path. Place seemed very clean, all the customers were very nice and welcoming. Nice selection of beers on tap as well as bottled and canned beer. Decent selection of spirits, top shelf and rail. Nicely decorated for the Holiday Season. ATM available in establishment, pool table and good music, large televisions and cigarette machine, although I saw no one smoking in bar. They do sell beer for off site consumption. The banter between the clientele is funny and heartwarming. Bruce the bartender clearly enjoys his job and seems well respected by all in the bar. Place is big on Veterans. This place is a Gem. You couldn't ask for a more down to earth, friendly and incredibly welcoming place and the beer is cold“
