“Today was my second visit here, after having finally stopped in a couple weeks ago. This place is nothing short of AWESOME! It's bright and happy, with wonderful colors and totally unique tabletops--created by the owners! They have done most everything themselves, a true accomplishment and a reason to be proud! The employees are unfailingly friendly and helpful! The owners have hired handicapped individuals, and today I was fortunate to see the owner teaching one such an employee a new skill, and she was so patient and very encouraging, helping this young woman to catch on quickly and feel good about herself. You don't see an employer working to build up employees that way very often. They have an amazing assortment of handmade ice cream, some flavors you'd expect and some you wouldn't. Truth be told, I've yet to try the ice cream, as both times I've been here, it's been morning and I was on a quest for coffee, but I sure do plan to get around to it! Now, the pastries. Ah, the PASTRIES! Beautiful huge cookies with a great variety, to start. And muffins and danish, and turnovers, oh my! On my first visit, I had a wonderful cherry danish, and this time I opted for a cranberry chocolate chip muffin that turned out to be nothing short of fabulous!! SO fabulous, in fact, that I got half a dozen to go, to share with friends this afternoon. (Although, truth be told, I'm making a good argument to myself to keep them all...!) I got a plain old coffee, although they also do a bunch of other coffee house-type specialty beverages for those who prefer those. The coffee was great, not horribly strong but with plenty of body and flavor. The coffee and muffin made my day. And today, I learned from talking to the owner that they have live bluegrass music on Fridays around 6pm. AND I found out that they also do pies, so, YAY! They're also incredibly accommodating, as she told me that with a few hours notice, they'll create pretty much any custom item you want! Doesn't get any better than that, right? Okay, those of you out there who have read my reviews before know that I can write good reviews for good places. This time, though, I'm going to add this: Cookie Cookie absolutely DESERVES your business! This is a business that gives back in a number of ways, and they deserve your support. Even if you live a bit out of the way, do make a point of coming here. I promise you'll enjoy whatever you get, and you'll be helping these folks to help others.“
“Hidden Vietnamese food in a shopping plaza in Wexford!! Recently, I found out that Little Viet Kitchen is the owner's second location up north! The other eatery is Banh Mi and Ti in Lawrenceville. They have the exact menu! The food is out of this world. The protein is flavorful and come in a variety of ways to eat. They have deli pork, beef, chicken, pork belly, marinated pork and vegetarian options. You can pair the protein in a sandwich, rice bowl or dry rice noodle bowl! The Banh Mi is a french baguette filled with marinated meat, pickled veggies and sauce, which is the perfect combination of savory and spices. I tried the Drunken Beef Banh Mi and I could not get enough of it. The beef is slightly sweet but mixes well with the sauce and fresh veggies. I also tried the Pork n Roll (sweet marinated pork with 5 spice) in a rice bowl! The portion was small but enough for a meal. Definitely on the sweeter side, but the pickled carrots, cucumber and tomato cut the sweetness. They also offer pho and a variety of drinks. I had the mint lemonade, which could have had more lemon flavor, but had fresh mint leaves too! The ambiance is casual. And this location is strictly take out. No tables inside at all. “The BEST matcha bar in Pittsburgh. They have so many options: Ice cream matcha floats, energizing matcha, matchabucha (yep, kombucha in matcha), and matcha cookies/rice treats. Super unique. Sprudge is a generally reliable source for great coffee recommendations in different cities, and I came across Commonplace in their 2015 guide of Pittsburgh cafes. Happy to report that 9 years later Commonplace still has a spot at the top! “I was curious about this place because every time I drive by, they're packed. Today I thought, why not try them out. Well I now will only go to this drive thru as my quick coffee pickup. I'm honestly annoyed at myself for not doing this earlier. I'm so tired of giving money to megacorps like dunkin' and Starbucks.This coffee is really solid and they have a wide selection. The prices are cheaper than Starbucks and the quality is the same, if not better. I will be a regular customer for sure!I now want them to open up a ton more locations throughout the city. I feel like the business plan is amazing, you have a small lot with low infrastructure costs and minimal staff. They were quite ingenious on the placement, making use of the roads turning lane to provide 2 different drive thru directions. No megacorp coffee place has something like this. I just hope that the workers get paid a fair wage and that the business stays profitable, it's hard to compete against coffee giants and I wish them the best!“

Besides having great some truly quality beans, Allegheny Coffee & Tea also offers a handful of different nitro brews which are absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is chill and comfortable overall, and there a few different areas around the shop where you can sit (including an upstairs loft) depending on your day's vibe.My favorite coffee drinks are a little involved, so they take some time to make. I build that into my expectations, though, and I'm usually not waiting long anyway.At any rate, this is a friendly, welcoming environment and leaving the house and hanging out for a little bit is part of the point. I sometimes come here alone for a to-go coffee, other times my wife and I sit and chat here, and sometimes I meet friends for lunch. I tried their hot cocoa, brownie, and chocolate chip cookie.Their desserts seem to be made in house. The brownie varieties vary from day to day, and this time, it was just a chocolate frosted one with sprinkles. The brownie had tons of pieces of chocolate in it, and the frosting was tasty as well. A tad dry, but still good.The chocolate chip cookie was only $1! What an amazing price and deal. It was very tasty as well, also having big chunks of chocolate in it. Someone ahead of us forgot their phone, and the Barista went running out and chased down the guy to give it back. That's above and beyond to me. “I've stopped by this establishment a few times and I fall in love with this place more each and every time. I took my partner here for brunch and it was lovely! Expect a hello when you step inside, they're happy to welcome you in! The atmosphere is calm and I love the vibe. The last time I was here, the walls were much darker and had an unfortunate cave effect (peering in from the sidewalk, it had been very dark inside). The fresh coat of paint does a LOT to brighten up the space. It's so warm and inviting, like a latte! :) The art from local artists really makes the joint feel connected to the local community, and I can really appreciate the support/platform they offer (the pieces are for sale, which is really cool). “It was our very first time visiting the store. We fell positive vibrations and energy once we entered the store. We were amazed of how the shop looked. The staff was very friendly and helpful we ordered a dozen of specialty donuts which were outstanding. We also ordered two doggy donuts for our boxer Rocco. The filling went almost to the very end on both sides of the croissant and there was plenty spread all throughout. The croissant is flaky but I wouldn't have cared if it had the density of a bagel. The owner is incredibly kind, and the whole vibe with the eclectic decor and artwork is my kind of cozy. Bonus points for letting in cute dogs to pet! Whenever I've got the time, sipping my latte from a mug and soaking in the atmosphere is my little treat. Highly recommend for anyone who loves good coffee and a welcoming vibe.“

The cold brew was a little underwhelming, however everything else was perfect. The shop itself was very well decorated with mechanic themed artwork throughout. This definitely isn’t your standard clean cut and modern coffee shop, but it is all the better for it.“
“A couple of weeks ago I was in Pittsburgh for work. Normally I make espresso at home each morning but, needed to find my caffeine fix when on the road. I decided to give Redhawk a try. The espresso was very good. The barista took her time, weighed the beans and the espresso (I also do this at home). Visually the shot was pleasing, nice reddish brown crema. The taste was balanced and well extracted. No bitter or sour notes. I enjoyed it tremendously.“
