The food was not just thrown together, you can tell they put their heart and soul in to making the food. Not only was the food delicious but even the presentation for take out hit it out the park. This place is a hidden gem, next time we plan on eating in. This is definitely our new go to Mexican restaurant and so lucky it is only 5 minutes from us. ​They recently expanded their menu, and the new volcan tacos with carne asada are an absolute must-try—perfectly crispy tortillas loaded with flavorful, charred beef. On top of that, their salsa bar is elite: incredible flavor, great heat, and you can grab as much as you need. “Silvia’s is one of the best restaurants in the area.

The guacamole is incredible, rich with fragrant lime, onion, cilantro, and fresh tomato. Not everyone puts tomato in their guacamole, but during the summer it’s a perfect fresh addition. I cannot emphasize enough how delicious her guacamole is and I won’t ask if she adds secret ingredients because I don’t need to know. I’m not making it at home. Silvia knows what’s best for me.

The torta cubana is our go-to comfort/power food now. It contains every protein under the sun, and plenty of sauce/egg yolk/beans to lubricate your mouth. It’s the ideal sandwich for a hungry, hard-working guy.

I can also highly recommend her desserts (this is the first place I’ve ever had chocoflan, a layered combination of moist chocolate cake and rich), as well as all the homemade beverages— they’re bigger than you think!

Also her rice is really rich and fragrant. It can seem a little under-salted, but this makes it a perfect compliment to the powerful flavors. The beans, too, rise above standard and make me want to just order beans.

Silvia’s hits the perfect balance between indulgence and feeling like I could eat here all the time. It is truly a treat and we try to go at least weekly. Love love love her to bits.“

“I was excited to see what the next generation to occupy the old Stoney's British Pub on Concord Pike would be. Maiz does not disappoint! From the moment you walk in the door you can really see the difference. It is relaxed, current, and yet vibrant atmosphere. Very well done! I started with the street corn appetizer. This is a great choice if you are looking for a small plate to wake up your pallete with a delicious lime crema sauce, and cotilla cheese seared and still juicy in every bite. For the entree I ordered the Salmón a la Veracruzana. This dish is a perfectly prepared pan seared salmon filet with traditional Vera Cruz sauce. It is slightly spicy but pairs with the salmon perfectly. All Entrees are served with a small plate of rice and beans. The Salmon dish also comes with two slices of Garlic Toast. My server, Iran, was tremendous and I would recommend asking for her every time. Over all this was a very pleasant dining experience and I fully recommend anyone looking for good, authentic, Mexican food in the North Wilmington area add Maiz to your itinerary. You wont be disappointed!“

“I came in after work around 630. Order some Asada tacos. They were phenomenal.

But I had an interest in dessert. Tres Leches specifically. I asked about them and were told they were in the fridge but they weren't. They actually had no desserts at all.

That was a bummer. Other than that, the person serving at the register was pleasant and the place was clean, quiet and smelled like food and a good time!
