“My husband and I were visiting the area and arrived at the restaurant just about an hour before closing time. I got my shu chicken and my husband chose the sushi and sashimi combo with miso soup. All of the food was delicious, the portions were generous, and all of the staff were friendly and didn't make us feel rushed, even though they were getting ready to close by the time we had finished our dinner.

“I have been going to SU20 for almost two years now (usually 2-3 times per month, sometimes more) and it is definitely the BEST, and almost even more importantly, most CONSISTENT sushi I have ever had in my life. This establishment and everyone who works there is an absolute gem for the Blue Bell and Ambler area. I personally believe that SU20’s sushi is better than the high end sushi restaurants in the Philly downtown area (at least based on the ones I have visited) — including some that were under review and successfully recognized for the Michelin Guide in November 2025. I’m not saying that out of disrespect, but simply to acknowledge how much of a hidden gem I believe SU20 truly is.

The fish quality, consistency, and knife work is stellar across the board — I have had almost every single specialty roll on the menu and they are all incredible. Some favorites include: the Fiesta, Blue Bell, Empire, and Sunshine Rolls — freshest ingredients every time, without exception. The quality control really shines through with the sashimi! It’s unbelievable how full and satisfied, yet light, I still feel after each meal I have at SU20. The appetizers and other meal items are great too… I would recommend the Tuna Carpaccio and Tuna Tataki if you’re looking for small plates.

It is worth noting that the “SU20 Roll” has become my absolute favorite item I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It is a fried roll that tiptoes across a fine line of decadence, freshness, creativity, and nuance. My wife and I get the SU20 roll to end each meal because it’s just that satisfying— you NEED it to try it. This will sound like an exaggeration…. but if I had to pick my last my bite of food on this Earth, the SU20 Roll would likely earn that order.

To round out the entire experience, SU20 even has a variety of delicious Japanese desserts that I believe are also made in house. The crepe cakes and cheesecakes both display a master class on maximizing pastry texture and flavor in a lighthearted way — my personal favorite is the Strawberry Crepe Cake. If I have room after dinner, I love taking one to go!

“My family and I had an incredible dining experience tonight at Umai. We had a special, Kinmedai aka Golden Eye Snapper that was so fresh and tasty, out of this world good! We also had a treat with broiled tuna cheek that was also outstanding. Otoro was so velvety and rich, spicy hotate, sweet ebi, unagi, fried crabs, incredible sushi rolls, savory Akadashi (my son ordered a second it was so good) and everything else we ordered tonight was just incredible. “Really enjoyed everything we ordered! We tried the regular tonkatsu, cheese tonkatsu, and soba, and they were all so good. The cheese tonkatsu was probably my favorite, the cheese was super flavorful and went really well with the crispy pork. I also really liked the soba. It was light and refreshing, which was perfect to have with the tonkatsu since it balanced out the fried food really nicely. We tried the different sauces too, and I personally liked the Japanese sauce the best! Everything tasted fresh, the portions were good, and overall it was a really satisfying meal. “I'm shocked I do not have a photo of the Salmon Bento that I have gotten at least 20 times already. I usually have it delivered via Uber Eats and it's so good that I dive right in when I get it! It comes with perfectly cooked salmon on a bed of sauteed broccoli and onions in a yummy teriyaki sauce. The sides are shrimp and veggie tempura, gyoza, California rolls, and white rice. You know when you find that one go-to restaurant that eases even the worst day at work? Sakura is that restaurant for me!

If you want the bento at a cheaper price - try the lunch specials; it's equally delicious!

“I went for a dinner. I was impressed with authentic Japanese taste offered here. Portion size is very satisfying. Good sushi, ramen noodles were authentic. Pork slices on top were delicious. I ordered takeouts of guidon and curry. I'd come back there when I am in the area next time. It seems majority of people are ordering pickups. Many customers came to pick up their orders. The dining space is nicely prepared and the room ready for anyone to come and dine.“

“This is a hidden gem for those that appreciate Asian or Japanese inspired dishes. I'm on a low carb diet and ordered a bowl without rice. The friendly employee suggested placing the meal on a salad and it was terrific. I will definitely be back for more! The prices are a bit more economical than typical sushi or hibachi restaurants. They are take-out or delivery only.“

I had never been there before, but it was on my way and much easier than dealing with the parking situation in Doylestown. What a wonderful surprise. The sushi was excellent — honestly better than the more talked-about place in Doylestown that gets all the big reviews. Everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and packed with care.
