We got the red beans and rice, gumbo and tomato soup and we need to try the rest of the menu! My husband and I just got back from New Orleans and my husband was sad because he loved the food so I googled and found this place! The gumbo was literally better than we had down there 😍 SO GOOD. And everyone working when I picked up (one was the owners daughter) were so passionate about how they make everything from scratch and kept giving me samples of everything and telling me their story. It’s a WONDERFUL locally owned place that should be protected at all costs. Cannot recommend enough!“

Also, pizza pies may look small, but they are just right for 1-2 people each, perfectly cooked, not too thin or thick. It is BYOB. My only qualm is that it is a little tight and busy at times it seems (people waiting to sit for their reservation, which can make you feel a little rushed), but it does give it a nice family feel. “Totally disorganized front of the house. Had reservations but was told we had to wait while they “cleared the tables” even though there were many open tables visible and available. Based on the small number of servers visible on the floor it was clear they didn't have enough staff. After waiting for 20 minutes and seeing no visible change in the situation - while the line at the door grew longer - we decided to leave. A shame since we never encountered this before. Went back a couple of weeks later. The problems I complained about have been fixed. Very good experience this time. Always willing to give a second chance. I will be returning!“

“This used to be my favorite spot. They've gone downhill the past few years. They used to have a variety of good, unique dishes. Now it's like going to taco bell where everything on the menu uses the same 5 ingredients. Now has the feel of a once good restaurant that got mixed up with an equity partner that tossed identity and quality to the side to maximize profits until bankrupting the place.

Original: This is one of my top 3 restaurants. This is one of those restaurants where you can pretty much order anything on the menu and it will be amazing. It's been a little while since I've been there but I often dream of the cocoa rubbed pork chops I've had there a few times. It was mind-blowing amazing. And, this is the kind of place where the sides that come your entree, are just as amazing. I can't wait to go back.“

For only two people eating, we have almost a whole large pizza of leftovers and let me tell you, I cannot wait to eat them tomorrow. The Motown is the best pepperoni pizza that we have ever had and we are major pizza fans in this family, so that says something! For my Greek fans, I highly recommend that Greektown pizza, so flavorful and don’t even get me started on the crust! 😁“

It’s also the only place I look forward to hearing the specials and trying various things on the menu. I go there minimum once a week. Of all the times I’ve been I’ve only had 2 incidents where I was not happy with the cut of meat. When I brought the issue to the servers attention, they went above and beyond to make things right. I suggest making reservations because they are pretty busy from those that have also fallen in love with this amazing restaurant.
