“Was a little disappointed that there were no options for kids. In order to get a pizza for my son, we had to select a specialty pizza from their menu, ask to remove all ingredients, and then get charged extra to add pepperoni. They only come in one size, $16 for a meal for an 8 year old is a little steep. Of all the things we ordered, the Ricotta Arugula was a definite front runner. We miss the pate from the old charcuterie board. Will return to continue exploring the menu.ETA: what an incredibly fast & thoughtful reply from the owner that I did not expect. We are continuously impressed with all of the businesses in New Kensington & appreciate feeling valued as customers.“

Strange Roots Experimental Ales Brewery • $$

“Love these funky beers. Brett/wild/mixed fermentation brews are my go to and SR specializes in them. Had one outstanding beer and one very good one during my visit. Have had many SR brews before this first visit to a SR Taproom. So glad that the in-person experience was so satisfying. Very friendly and helpful staff. Welcoming patrons. Excellent food. The area is a little depressed but the "downtown" area was quaint. Enjoyed the visit very much.“

“We got their flyer in the mail today and decided to give them some business. We're outside of their delivery area, so we just picked up the pizza ourselves. We ordered the standard pizza with two toppings. They use really good cheese. The sauce is on the sweet side, not acidic, not bitter. Overall it's a pretty good sauce. Pizza dough was really good, comparable to some of the best pizza places we've tried out this way. And the prices seemed really fair. Only real complaint I have, and it's not their fault, is we couldn't tell the place was in business when we found it. They need better lighting or something so that you can tell this is a place of business to match the quality of their pies. I rate our experience pretty highly, we'll be back to try some other stuff from the menu.“

“The food was very good and overall the serve e was very good as well. I had the Italian Chicken sandwich special which was very good, the fries were a little disappointing as they were unseasoned, and clearly got a plate full of overcooked bottom of the bag fries. I also got the French Onion soup which I was told they might not have but they did and honestly it was quite disappointing also. My work partner who I was with had the Pittsburgh salad which he liked and the stuffed banana peppers which were excellent according to him. For a Monday early evening of football season the place was reasonably busy and well staffed. The only downside was that there was a customer who clearly had a few drinks and had a problem with some other customers who left and sat at the bar dropping f bombs and other very harsh cuss words and the bar tender kind of seemed to be entertaining him and laughing. I’m not sure if she was just trying to diffuse the situation or what but thankfully he left within 15-20 minutes. I’m only in town for one night every quarter for work and with lots of small mom and pop local spots to try I likely won’t be back here but it is good to know that there is a decent place not far from my hotel that doesn’t have a chain name attached to it. I live in a small town and love supporting small town businesses as often as I can.“

“COULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE MORE!My GF has been on a crusade to find all the little hidden gems in the restaurant community around us. She keeps recommending THE BEST PLACES!We ordered garlic bread sticks, a meatball hoagie, a large supreme pizza on the New York Style Crust, and we each had drinks. I had Cream Soda, and she had some sort of cherry pop that I can't remember.Everything was excellent! We took plenty of pizza home bc we straight up couldn't finish everything, and it was all under $40 total for both of us!You'll have to excuse the photos below. My camera really sucks with mixed lighting.Parking: There's an extra wide section of road with marked parking spaces.“
