Located in South Philly, Djakarta Cafe is a modern, smaller Indonesian spot with limited seating and pleasant music. The atmosphere is rated 5/5, with nice artwork throughout. Service is also 5/5, with friendly and welcoming staff. The food is rated 5/5, offering various selections. Meals like “Babi Kecap”, “Nasi Rendang platter”, “Bakmi Kepiting”, “Djakarta Noodle”, and “Chicken Satay” are surprisingly delicious and close to what they taste like back home. The beef rendang is an incredible dish, rich and flavorful, and the chicken satay comes with a peanut sauce that isn’t overly heavy. The kale soup that comes with the beef rendang is a favorite part. The bak mi noodles are a favorite, and kids love the chicken satay. All foods are really good, with reasonable prices. Portions may seem a bit small for takeout compared to other Asian foods, so dining in might be better. A must-visit place for a taste of home.
