“Our first experience at a James Beard award winning restaurant (2017) and chef was incredible at Vernick Fish in Philadelphia to celebrate Trent’s graduation! I know now what this caliber of food and service means and all other restaurants pale in comparison to Vernick Fish and Greg Vernick(semi-finalist chef 2025). From the appetizers (dozen oysters from RI, MA, ME, PEI) to the drinks and main course were all uniquely exquisite and cannot be replicated anywhere else. The constant doting with new silverware at each course and cleaning of the table was undeniably royalty treatment. Even the bathroom was an experience-I need the hand lotion in my life (instantly made my hands look 30 years younger). The portions, ambiance and service were all equally perfect! I highly recommend you check out Vernick Fish. We will definitely return!“

“I don’t think I have ever tried so many new foods in one sitting before. We ordered a special from the raw bar that our waitress described as a boujee poke bowl (she was awesome btw and very patient with us as we were being indecisive). It was so good! I couldn’t even tell you what was in there but basically every raw fish ever with a really great sauce. We also got some oysters (so fresh with great sauces) and the trout pancake. Never thought I’d be into cold fish on a pancake, but it was delicious. Anyway, all that rambling to say this place is amazing, definitely go if you can get a reservation, and definitely try all the weird things that sound kinda scary.“

“We chose Spasso because my sister remembered it from years ago. We had a relatively early dinner at Spasso the evening of Philly's first Friday of the season. We had a great seat by the street facing windows. Our server was friendly and provided great service. We all enjoyed our meals, generous portions, so we did have some to take home. Overall, a great experience, we would return. Saw several people same evening who all said they hadn't been there in years. After our description of dinner, they said they would visit soon. Yum!“

“I was skeptical because I absolutely love eating meat. Meat and bbq is a huge part of my life. That being said dinner Saturday night was unbelievably fantastic. I absolutely loved everything that we ordered. Moms meatballs were my favorite dish. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that they are vegan. “The food was subpar. The prices are ridiculously high for the quality of the food. The service was average at best. Order a "vegan" burger for $17 which was just an impossible patty which came between a bunch that tasted and felt like cardboard. Also didn't come with fries. the drink photos in the menu are deceptive as they appear larger than the actual drinks received. Save yourself some money and have a better meal by going downstairs at the Grand Sierra Resort to Johnny Rockets.“

“Really great food- we had the shrimp fried rice, noodle bowl and wings (salt + pepper). All meals were so tasty even the spring rolls! Wings were crispy, well seasoned and tasty. Restaurant staff are very nice and welcoming. We sat in, only 4 tables. It was a good dining experience not like a sit down restaurant for example you order at the desk, and there’s no waiter. So casual and lovely vibes! Definitely recommend and will be ordering again!!“

I went for restaurant week and ordered the shrimp creole. Omg I cleaned my plate and was still salivating over the idea of more when I got home. My partner ordered the crab soup and the salmon. Eyes rolled in the back of his head y’all. Everything was so well and for my first time they left a lasting impression. Would definitely dine here again. I’m just disappointed the shrimp creole isn’t on the regular menu.“

“Not sure if this place is a hidden gem since I am an out of towner and was just visiting my buddy who was in town staying at the affiliate hotel.

The decor and ambiance is very awesome. Out waitress, Laural, she was awesome, she not only waited on us but she also spoke to our group exchanging tales of our past lives.

I ordered the following:

anna breakfast 22
two eggs, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh chickpeas, le puy lentils, maquis herb sausage, semolina toast

semolina pancakes 22
huckleberry balsamic jam, pine nut streusel,
whipped honey

The Anna breakfast, I had the option to order poached eggs and that made me pretty excited. Never had lentils for breakfast, but it was a nice hearty touch. The sausage was a nice touch too. Also, thank you for the tangerine, it made a nice snack after the meal.

My best friend and I split the pancakes. They were delicious. However, it came with a light green sauce that was far from sweet and an acquired taste. We tasted it, but it was left unfinished.

“Went tonight for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Only 2 other tables were occupied on a Sat night and we think it’s under recognized. The price felt very comparable to other Italian spots in the area and the food quality was on par or better. Our waitress was fantastic. We will definitely be back!“

My sister and I got mocktails which were pretty good, not too tart, not too sweet. We both got smash burgers which were decent. It wasn't too greasy or messy, which is appreciated.
