About ILLATA

ILLATA is a small, dimly lit restaurant with a romantic ambiance that feels unassuming from the outside. Its menu changes frequently, offering a variety of dishes to try, including the agnolotti, steak, tuna crudo, chicory salad, and mussels. The food is described as exquisite, with high praise for dishes like the steak, fish, and the marinated mussels with hakurei turnips and chili oil. Guests enjoy the friendly and courteous service, making the dining experience feel like dinner with friends. It is a great option for those who love good food and a pleasant atmosphere, especially for BYOB enthusiasts, as the staff is helpful in providing ice and other needs.

Many diners have praised the unexpected surprises on the menu, such as the crab and carrot dish, which is a delightful combination, and the shrimp with peaches, which stands out for its quality produce. Desserts like the cherry brown butter tart and rhubarb tart are highly recommended, ending the meal perfectly. Despite its small size and simple setup, Illata offers Michelin star-level food at affordable prices, with many guests opting to try almost everything on the menu in one sitting. The restaurant's friendly staff and warm atmosphere make it a must-visit, often regarded as one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia.

atmosphere, service, food-all incredible. Heck I ate here when I was visiting Philly and the meal was so inspiring I moved here. None of this fake trained service, no obnoxiously complicated explanations of the chef or the food, just genuinely kind people serving genuinely good food that doesn’t hide behind any smoke and mirrors. If you haven’t had an amazing time here it’s probably cause you’re not much fun to begin with. Get here, order one of everything,...read full review
Delicious small, shareable plates. Every dish was amazing. We couldn't ask for better service!
Perfect neighborhood BYOB that makes you feel like dining out is fun again. You can sit at the bar and read a book over mussels or farfalle, or bring three of your closest friends and gossip while having incredible carrots or pork collar. You can even have a dinner where your in-laws let loose for once, it’s that kind of special place. Make sure to have the chocolate cake, it’ll make you feel like a kid again.
