“This is one of my favorite falafel places. The falafel is crispy on the outside, they're generous with humus and vegetables, and the bread is just a little thinner and less gummy than other places. They have lots of other items on the menu. I like their samosas but still have to try more.“

“I’ve been going here for years with my wife. Great food and good prices. It’s always nice to support a Muslim business.Dietary restrictions: My wife can only have dairy free and they’ve always accommodated her and her preferences. And the food doesn’t taste any less great!“

Samarkand Food Market Uzbek •
Philadelphia

“My family and I ate at this amazing restaurant! We happened to be in the area and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. We were greeted nicely, the service was good and the food was delicious! We even met Richard who took the time to graciously explain the history and origin of the restaurant/ menu. The atmosphere was inviting and rich with culture. I would totally recommend Samarkand! If you are ready for a new and unique dinning experience this is the place for you!“

“Was visiting and came across this page on instagram. We got the mixed kebab grill since we were 6 people and it was filled with tons of meat (chicken, beef, fish, shrimp), lots of vegetables, fries, and pita bread. Everything tasted really good, was just missing some rice on the side which you would have to order separate. Would definitely come back again!“

“The food here is AMAZING! Highly recommend the eggplant. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. My foodie 16 year old wanted to take home a quart of it. Beautiful atmosphere, kind people. Many dishes for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Gluten free options. The rice is sooooo good. Doesn’t serve alcohol.“

“I order from here about once a week and I love their food! I always order NY Chicken (Al Sham Style) which is my favorite, however today I accidentally ordered the regular NY Chicken. Totally my fault for not double checking before submitting my order, but no real complaints here! The regular NY Chicken is delicious as well. I also always order the 2pc. falafel which is super crispy and has great flavor. At work, I only order lunch once a week and this is always my #1 choice. If you haven't tried Al Sham, you're missing out!“

“As someone who grew up somewhere that did not have any middle Eastern food options, Manakeesh is an absolute treat. The food at this restaurant/cafe is my go to personal celebration and also a great low-key breakfast/brunch option for when I need a little treat on the weekend. The curry chicken is so unbelievably worth it for the flavor, sides, and bonus fresh oven warmed pita. For something lighter I chose a falafel option or the deliciously spiced lentil soup, as neither ever let me down. And in my opinion, the absolute best order here is the pistachio rose milkshake (if you like rose flavored desserts). It isn't too sweet and both pistachio and rose flavors come through for my favorite dessert in all of Philadelphia.“
