El Campesino is our go-to Mexican place in the North Hills. We just did take out this time, but the restuarant has a great atmosphere and vibe to it. I ALWAYS get the jalisco steak, and I have never been disappointed. My wife gets the combination platter and loves their enchiladas. I love Mexican food, and by far this is the best of the best. I go once a week. It is my quiet lunchtime escape from work, and I prefer to eat alone. They know me on sight, and know that I will either select the chicken chimichanga or the chicken fajitas. Both are solid choices that come quickly out of the kitchen. The staff is very friendly and attentive. While there are not nearly enough Mexican restaurants in Pittsburgh, what the city lacks in quantity, El Campesino makes up for in quality.

My wife (from Mexico) says the tacos here are the best she's tried in Pittsburgh! That's high praise!Try the Al Pastor tacos, order them with flour tortillas.Kid-friendliness: They provide high chairs, and have a decent kids' menu. The enchiladas are made to not be spicy at all.
