“This place is incredible for anyone tired of staying in the generic hotels that can be depressing. Old world charm at its finest. Very relaxing feel. This definitely not a modern hotel but has an incredible welcome about it.“

“It’s hard to find an atmosphere where mom and dad can chill while the toddler is welcome- but we found our new spot! A kid friendly brewery with delicious beer and appetizers was a win for all. We can’t wait to go back!“

“I’ve never been upset in this establishment. I’m met so many nice ppl and it’s just awesome. 10/10 recommend the pickles punch. Rachel was my server and she gave me the best service ever. Will be coming back and bringing my kids and family!“

“Our family had a great dinner together at The Tavern, after a Penn State event. Service was attentive and nice. We were glad we checked out this longtime restaurant when visiting campus. Excellent bar drinks. We would return to enjoy a drink in the bar.“
“This is an interesting bar in downtown State College because it's right in the midst of everything (it is right next to the Gaff), but it has a very different vibe to it. It is attached to a nice restaurant so it is a more upscale casual than the super casual nature of the bars around it.It is interesting to go there because they have traditional furniture and makes you feel like you're in a place of some history. They make good cocktails, and this is a nice place to go if you're looking to enjoy the nightlife downtown without rowdiness or blasting music. It is a good place for conversation and the candlelit tables feel very intimate. It is not a huge place which will also get swamped on big weekends like Arts Fest and Blue and White.“
“I gave food a 5/5 so it doesn't effect the review. They don't have kitchen food, they have little bags of chips here and there. Which is fair. This bar is.. different. Drinks are hit or miss depending on who makes them. There's an older Asian man that makes the best drinks. Sometimes they're really bad. Pretty chill atmosphere, but the downstairs isn't open. I think this would be beneficial for them as it gets busy at times. I enjoy coming here. It tends to be an older crowd rather than the college kids. Id recommend coming here 2-3 times before you decide if it's a bar for you.“

“Great, crowded atmosphere but also a lot of space. Came here before the white out game from Denver. Probably the best prices in town for different drinks and slices of pizza. They did charge 50¢ for crushed red pepper. Loved the bags/cornhole outside! The pizza order took much longer than necessary. The line was very long.“

“Best college drinking experience I’ve had on state college. It’s not always that crowded, the live music is a hit, I am a personal fan of the iced coffee drink. The pizza is decent, def the best in the area, and it’s nice to sit outside when weather permits, if you don’t want to be inside the bar“
