“The food is prepared with care and cooked to perfection. I recommend the beef cheek with gratin. The fried seafood mix is also a great pick. Service can be slow due to being overcrowded, yet it is worth the wait and the staff is kind and professional. This location has both interior and exterior seating, keep “

“Amazing homemade food, really good price and lovely service. They had a high chair for our baby and we had a lovely time. It’s located a little behind the most touristy areas, but worth the detour! Highly recommend the tuna and the grilled octopus.Kid-friendliness: Members of staff were really friendly and tried their best to make us feel comfortable with our baby“

“Awesome lunch here. We got the red snapper which was great, filleted in front of us and came with fries. Staff were friendly and probably a fair price. Would recommend here for sure and to make sure to check reviews before eating in cascais as we nearly missed this place!“

“Location is worth it for the view of the beach. Very friendly service. Reasonable food. Very tight spaces. The restaurant is on top of the wall so there isn't much space. Not recommended on a hot day. It's a good restaurant to leave the beach, have lunch and return.“

“The atmosphere is very pleasant, the space is very beautiful and well decorated. It's not very big, and it's an informal atmosphere. The service is friendly, with some exceptions. However, most employees do not speak Portuguese. In a restaurant in Portugal, it is unacceptable that you cannot be served in Portuguese. The Trofie al Pesto Pasta is very tasty and well presented.Vegetarian options: There are several vegetarian options.“

“Delicious vegetarian food. The presentation is beautiful and the dish is very tasty. There are several options available. The menu is the dishes served on a large table and they explain what each one contains, suggesting according to what you want, there is a starter and the prices are the same. Interesting.“

“A quaint restaurant with inside and outside tables that was affordable and convenient to the main area of Caiscais central. I had the seafood rice which I had been told to find before I left Lisbon and this was one of the few places I found for a reasonable price. The shrimps were huge and generous and the fish pieces were nice. My friend had a mushroom chicken and rice/potatoes. The green wine on tap was also tasty. Obrigada.“

“Beaufiful evening here, very small cozy restaurant, the best service I've had in Portugal. Food was great, the owner suggestions were spot on. Lengthy wine list, with reasonable bottles to very rare ones. Overall one of the best little gems in the region, I will definitely come back.“

“We had the Bacalhau con nata and Cod confit. They were both very good. I did like con nata much better. Grandma was the cook, cashier and waitress. It takes about 20 minutes after you order for your meals. Home cooked Portuguese meals. Her chocolate cake was oh so good.“

“Today I was in probably the smallest restaurant I've ever been to!However, the “Taberna Economica de Cascais” proves that the size has nothing to do with the cuisine and the feel-good factor! The sea bream was great, the steak was on point, the homemade Ginjiha was super tasty, and even the espresso was excellent!Super-friendly, family atmosphere and of course the rustic ambience in this very small, cozy restaurant, which opened in 1967, complete the experience!“

“Last night I stumbled on this place unintentionally after I missed the closing hour of another restaurant I had intended to go to. A lot of places close at 11 PM here. I was alone because I am living solo, but I felt so welcomed by Klaus. I was really starving, but assumed all I could get was wine which I was fine with, but I was offered an octopus salad even though the kitchen was closed I devoured it and enjoyed a beautiful white wine from Douro. Then I met Barbara, the owner out, having a smoke in the rain, and she was so warm to me and invited me to join her and some longtime friends at a table where I proceeded to drink more wine than I should have. Even though I do not speak but few words in Portuguese and have English only, Barbara and her friends were so hospitable. We laughed and talked for hours. I felt so at home here, and I will definitely be back very soon for a proper meal. This place is small and quaint with great music. What a perfect way to end a long work week!“
“Tradition, the best homemade and endearing food.It is the most authentic you can find, we have been coming to eat for more than 10 years every time we come to Lisbon, run by some very nice older people. Don't go in a hurry, good food takes a long time to come.“

“Reviewed June 7, 2023 via mobileYum!Fish is my favorite, I have fish almost every day at home in Canada. It’s easy for me to tell if a fish is fresh or not. Fresh fish needs a good chef to bring out its flavor, like developing a talent. The chef didn’t just grilled the sea beam to perfection l, the veggies and rice too. Everything was piping hot.I highly recommend it. I had several meals there during my two weeks stay in June this year. I will be back next June! Can't wait to see those cheerful friendly faces and eat their tasty seafood again!“

“I came for lunch here several months ago, and we had a great time, in an idyllic setting facing the sea. We returned this 24/3; I had fish soup and sole fillets. We had a great time. But a few hours after the meal, I suffered from violent vomiting and fever, characteristic of food poisoning, which lasted more than 24 hours.I don't like to leave this kind of review, especially when the food is good, the service attentive and the sea view just perfect... but given what happened to me, I feel the duty to report it.“

“Great hidden gem in the heart of Cascais. We were very surprised by the size of the portions as we could not finished them all. The picanha steak is a must try and it came with fries and chips and 5 big chunks of meat. Definitely recommend the place and do not forget to bring cash as credit cards not accepted.“

“Our tour group Collette brought us to this quaint little restaurant. We were so warmly accommodated. I felt welcomed and loved. The sour dough bread was Devine. Soup is highly recommended in Portugal. We had a cream carrot and green bean soup. Amazing! My main course was a white fish with a gravy sauce of onion and garlic with a side of baked potato wedges. This is beyond a 5*. Thank you“

“The site is in an area of chalets around and tucked into a gas station, literally.Something seedy, although it has its point. The pizzas are spectacular, it is well worth it. The pasta was also rich, very abundant. If you eat little, a pizza for 2 is fine, although I see it more for one. They have a red lambrusco also at a good price for the bottle.Be careful with the appetizers that they give you because they charge for them and are expensive. They charge even the breadsticks that are already on the table. When they bring the olives and cheese, if you don't want to, say which appetizers you don't want and order the food directly. I have seen that it is common in this area for them to be put directly on the table without asking... and sometimes you are afraid to say that you don't want it, but nothing happens. It seems they also delivered pizza, I'm not sure.“

“The food was really good and the waiter was nice. At first glance from the beach side, it seemed like a very simple snacking place, so we initially thought of just having drinks, but then we later decided to order food, and their Bacalhau a bras was really good. “I took the salmon tartar and the sliced cod fish with explosive olives. Excellent taste and freshness of the salmon but tartar was too salty. The cod fish was not sliceable has it should the dish was not equilibrated qua umami. The croutons were slightly too hard when combined with the tenderness of the vegetables which had an amazing taste. The torta de laranja was plain. disappointing in price-quality.“

“Finally, I made it for Sunday lunch! This place had been on my list for long. We sat inside. The atmosphere was very quaint and traditional, like that of a seafood tavern from an era gone by. The food was simple and Delicious! Ordered bacon croquets which were very smoky and absolutely tasty. The fried beans with mayo was great. Extra mayo is charged. But it was so good, I ordered. For Mains we had the fried prawns and secreto de porco. A white wine sangria and water for drinks! Thumbs up!Vegetarian options: There are options to try, especially in starters section“

“OMG, it was like visiting my grandma’s house! It was a miserable rainy late November day and the special was like a pot roast. “While visiting Cascais, I came to have lunch at the Vela Azul Restaurant, a small, family-run space where traditional Portuguese food, especially fish, is the house specialty. The starter came with Bread, Toast, Butter and a Fresh Cheese. The main course consisted of tasty Grouper Fillets accompanied by naughty Tomato Rice and perfectly well prepared, full of aroma and flavor. I also ordered a Mixed Salad which was generous and well seasoned. I accompanied the meal with House White Wine and finished with a homemade Queijada. Meal around €26 per person. I recommend!“

“The location is perhaps the least attractive feature of this restaurant, but it makes up for it with the service and quality and some creativity on the menu. As it is a Wine Bar, the employee's knowledge and advice was adequate, revealing that training pays off. Knowledgeable about the wine list and 'pairing' with the chosen dishes. The baked cheese with walnut - while not particularly original - was well cooked. The asparagus wrapped in bacon did not disappoint either, but the smoked tuna with lemon & pink pepper was perhaps the best surprise. The raspberry pie for dessert was very fresh and tasty. As for wines, the list is mainly from Qta. from Folgorosa. We tasted two reds - Folgorosa and Qta. da Folgorosa 2015 - which were fitting for the occasion.“
