“This is such an amazing place! Firstly, the couple who runs it is absolutely professional, full of knowledge and so sweet. Then, the food and wine is absolutely delicious, local, authentic but feels very high class. We will come back for sure!“

“This restaurant and the owners are just amazing! The location is charming and we had a lovely table facing the street. People would stop by the window and look at our food which was probably the best Italian food we’ve ever had. The warm welcome by the owners as well as every item we ordered was outstanding. You receive fresh bread with olives and olive oil as much as you desire and it was scrumptious. For appetizers, we ordered a salad and chicken meatballs, and they were very delicious. For dinner, we had the salmon, Bolognese, a veggie pasta and they were cooked to perfection. The absolute star of the meal was a mushroom pasta: it was decadent and like no pasta we’ve ever tasted! The owners ( husband and wife) were SO sweet! We cannot wait to come back to Porto and eat at this absolute gem of a restaurant again!“

“The food is pretty good, but if you want cod… it's not the place. Original flavors, acceptable service and a very good atmosphere.
It is at the edge of the corridor in the Ribeira. A place to enjoy. I advise arriving before two or after three thirty. If not, wait for a table.
A curiosity. When you enter the premises you can see the floor below through the floor.

Parking: Grim imposture in this area. Better to take a taxi or Uber“

“A must try in Porto!
We booked a meal at Flow for the last night of our holiday in Porto and it was excellent!
It is a beautiful restaurant hidden away off one of the cobbled streets. A lovely interior theme to it and great ambiance.
The food was delightful, we had starters, main and deserts and all were delicious. Standouts on my meal were the chestnut fondant served with the pork and the peanut and salted caramel cheesecake!
They had many staff on, who were all attentive and we were mainly served by Rodrigo who was very jovial and friendly!“

“Very good site. 2 spacious and very elegant rooms, very good service and very well prepared food and lots of quantity. We left very happy and we will return.
You can try many typical dishes of the city but it is not a tourist place packed with people. Very good experience“

“Place located along the Douro on the less chaotic and congested side with tourists. This gives the place a beautiful romantic atmosphere which, combined with the view of the bridge, is truly exceptional. The staff is trained and very helpful.
The dishes are simple and varied.“

“First day in Porto and immediately an unforgettable dining experience at Pátio 44. The staff was very kind and the service was quick. The presentation of the dishes was taken care of down to the smallest details. We followed the staff's advice and tried an appetizer each and a main course. The menu, as I understand it, varies depending on the seasonality of the products. Trust their taste: the chefs really know what they're doing! Each dish was balanced, fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend it to everyone.“

“Small restaurant waiting to be found in the alleys of Porto, small and intimate, simple and genuine. Delicious dishes, of course I expected something good but not to eat so much good, definitely the best pasteis de bacalhau in Portugal. Very friendly and accommodating staff, fast service and low prices, definitely worth a try. If you love creme brulé, the milk dessert is for you.“

“The service was the best of any restaurant ever.. It was so good that I was surprised that I could ever receive such service.
The male employee wearing glasses is very kind and the service is very good. I hope you are happy?
Of course the food was delicious, but it was a steakhouse that felt even better because they were so friendly ❣️
A restaurant where everything was perfect...: I really recommend it??

“We stopped in here after long day of sightseeing in Porto. We were tired and hungry, and this place was a little oasis. My wife ordered the Seabass with sweet potato and it was excellent. I ordered the prime with fries and it was excellent also. Service was great. I would recommend.“

“During our stay in Porto, my girlfriend and I found this small, traditional restaurant. It was cozy, a bit noisy, but the food was really delicious and very affordable. The staff was friendly, and even though you might have to wait for a table, it's definitely worth it. A true hidden gem!“

“This is a local restaurant.
The location is quite remote.
I had fried octopus and sardines.
The fried sardines are really seasoned just right, and they're just rice thieves.
Overall, it is a good restaurant with good taste and reasonable price.“

“We had a dinner in Ode, and the experience was fantastic, and very unique.
To enter, you have to use a knocker to be allowed inside, and when seated, you are greeted with a welcome letter, which is very interesting, and not seen in any places that I have visited.
The interior is also very nice, with little lighting, and just stone and wood, making a very simple style.
The food was outstanding. Although the menu is quite small, the dishes are all amazingly made, with the meat and octopus tender, and the chickpeas made with bacon.
There is also a very large wine selection, which offers a large variety (as the wine menu is considerably larger than the food menu).
The staff are extremely friendly, greeting you, explaining the food options, checking for allergens, explaining the wine choice, and more.
The prices are very high, however, if possible, it is definitely a place worth visiting, for the food—and equally as much for the experience.“

“Tiny place with an open bar where Hans the chef prepares all the food. We had only vegetarian dishes, and everything was amazing! Hands down, one of the best and most creative dinners I have ever had, that goes along with a great selection of wines. Service was super friendly and professional.
Vegetarian options: A decent portion of the menu is vegetarian“

“I’m someone who truly appreciates good restaurants, and this one is absolutely exceptional!
FOOD:
- The food here is top class, with incredible attention to detail in every dish. I highly recommend the Steak with Queijo da Serra (Serra Cheese) and the Duck Magret with Porto Wine Sauce. Both dishes are exceptionally delicious, boasting a premium taste that is hard to find elsewhere. My friends had the Cod with Cornbread and mentioned that it was excellent as well.
- As for drinks, we enjoyed the White Sangria, which was delightful. The Porto Wine served after the meal was also a perfect finish. Next time, I’ll definitely try a Red Wine to complement the meal.
- For dessert, I would suggest trying the Crème Brûlée and the Portuguese Biscuit Cake; both were great!
SERVICE:
- The service was superb. Everyone was friendly, positive, and very relaxed, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Miss Beatriz, our server, did an excellent job, ensuring that we had everything we needed and felt well taken care of.
ATMOSPHERE:
- The atmosphere was, in my opinion, the best part of the experience. The environment was quiet and peaceful, allowing us to have a conversation without any loud disturbances. It was a wonderfully cozzy and relaxed setting where we could comfortably hear each other. The only suggestion I have is to add a fan or air conditioning, although the fresh air from outside was quite refreshing.
Overall, this was a 10/10 experience, and we will definitely be back.
Highly recommended!“

“I thoroughly enjoyed my octopus! It was a giant tentacle and everything that came with complimented it nicely. It was tender and flavorful.
The pork neck was nice and came with such big sides we couldn't finish.
The waiters were attentive and lovely.

“Found this place on our first night in Porto and ended up going back for seconds because the food was so good. The dishes sound simple but they are all very flavorful. We tried the padrón peppers, clams, fried sardines, sea bream, grilled octopus, salads and I would recommend all of them! One thing to note is that this place is cash only but they do have an ATM right outside.“

“Located in front of Praça Carlos Alberto, in the heart of the city of Porto, Casa Expresso is an iconic place and a true reference of Portuguese gastronomy and traditional flavors.
Spaces like this are a rarity these days, which are urgently needed to preserve, where you can feel the Tripeiro spirit, of the old Tascas/Casas de pasto in Porto.
Traditional Portuguese cuisine of excellent preparation/quality and lots of flavor.
Between a quick lunch, a tasty snack or an excellent dinner, a wide range of solutions from opening to closing.
Speed and efficiency of service are the House's main items.
A wide variety of snacks and sandwiches, where the signature dishes are the Sande de Rojão and the Sande de Presunto.
My option was a snack, consisting of Cod fritters and Rojão sandwiches, which were delicious.
I finished the tasting with a spicy Queijo da Serra with Salpicão of excellent flavor.
Good price/quality/service ratio.
Good service, great availability and a lot of friendliness from the entire staff.
Congratulations to the Owner, to whom I wish continued success in preserving this Excellent House.
I highly recommend it?“

“On August 6 we met the restaurant Brasão Aliados, it was our first time there, we arrived at the restaurant without having reserved, they welcomed us directly with a smile and accompanied us to our table.
We ordered 2 cocktails as well as 2 drinks, 2 francesinhas, a portion of fries and starters. It came to us at €59, it wasn't expensive at all and the wait wasn't long.
The waiter Augusto was very cheerful and pleasant, we felt very professional on his part with a desire to do his job well. A very good person, thank you for serving us so well and for your kindness.
We had a great time in the restaurant.
We will not hesitate to come back, 100% recommended place.“

“Very pleasant place to have an aperitif with the late afternoon sun on the terrace. The interior is very welcoming and original. We liked the vinho verde, but beer was very popular on the terrace. Nice neighborhood place where you don't feel too many tourists (even if we were!). Great!!!“

“Nothing particularly interesting in this francesinha and in this space. Maybe it's a matter of taste, but the sauce is extremely spicy, which I don't like and doesn't allow me to fully taste the other ingredients. The sausages were nice, but the steak was too rare and dry.
The service is relatively fast but quite depersonalized. When we arrived, we waited 10 minutes at the door without any type of interaction from the staff who completely ignored our presence.“

“The cod bolinho and the pork risol (croquettes) are highly recommended, quite large and filling. We also tried the puppy (little dog) and the tower of garlic prawns, with a very good sauce for dipping bread.

“My husband and I ate at tasco last night and couldn’t leave Porto without giving a review. One of the best dinner experiences we’ve had while traveling. Beautiful restaurant on a slightly less busy street. The food was incredible - creative and cool while also being delicious and crushable. The people serving us were wonderful - Joel and Bernardo especially. You feel like you belong there, which is a fresh feeling as a tourist. Highly recommend making the time to eat here if you are foodies like us. Obrigada, tasco!“

“Without a doubt one of the best places to eat in Porto. Traditional food at an unbeatable price. It is perfect proof that by doing things right, having just a few tables is enough for you. A small and cozy place where you feel at home.
We ordered pataniscas, cod fritters, cod and rice.
I couldn't say what I'd choose because we take cod for granted as being good, but the rice...it's from another world. Accompanied by a green wine, it is a perfect combination.
If we look at the price we completed a perfect evening, everything was €40 (2 people).“

“Very nice place! The person who attend us was nice, even in the last 45 min before closing. Thank you! He served us very well, recommended us... Food was delicious and local style, vegetable soup was surprisingly delicious, I also tried an amazing flan / pudding, hand and home made. I would like to repeat to try the main dishes, and we only tried what remains as kind of Portuguese "tapas". Totally recommended.“

“The food is amazing! The meat sandwich along with the fries was tremendous! The prices are not expensive at all. If you don't speak or understand much Portuguese, the waiters themselves translate the menu into Spanish and give you very good treatment. They all seemed super nice to me.
We have eaten inside and we have not been hot at all, on top of that they have it very well decorated and it is very pretty.
Highly recommended.“

“My wife and I had a great wine experience here! Very down to earth, yet knowledgeable hosts. I tried a crazy good white port wine here, the 20yo vintage white port. Prices are very reasonable, around 6€ per glass. We had 5 ports altogether, for the price of 42€, and we got some of the more pricey ones. You can sit outside, or inside in comfy and atmospheric tables. A must if you're into wine at all. ? Cheers to João, very cool host!“

Meet the restaurant chef!
The food is spectacular!
(I will leave a small observation
The only thing missing is justice in the dishes
Increase the size of the prawns to be more visible on the plate, and the sirloin steak should be a little thicker)“

“Coffee is great, but the main guy running the cash register was the nicest man. When trying to learn and speak Portugese, I run into many words I still don't know. This happened when ordering coffee. Instead of dismissing my confusion and just speaking to me in english, he clarified and helped me learn a few more words and phrases while speaking to me in portugese. That's service, and that shows care. Made me feel comfortable.“

“4.4/5*
The francesinhas had a thick and tender sirloin steak inside, being cooked nicely rare. They also had the expected ham and chorizo, both being smokey, salty and fatty. The cheese on top was thick and bold in flavour, like an aged cheddar. These francesinhas differ from others as they possess thicker ingredients. They paired gorgeously with the iconic, rich, spicy-tomato, beer-port wine- francesinhas sauce, which was done in a dominant-tomato-savoury style. We don’t particularly prefer this version of the sauce over the usual tangy, more beer-port influenced sauces. The bread utilised in these francesinhas was fresh and circular with a slight crust and soft interior.
The prego sandwiches, too, utilised rare sirloin steaks which were generous in their thickness. The bread used was fluffy, soft and fresh. The sauce on the sandwich had a beautiful garlic-mustard flavour, which further accentuated the beautiful flavour in the rarity of the steak.
The bacalhau cappachio was amazing, fresh and full of salty yet fresh-cod flavour. Paired with parsley, onion and a very light vinegar, the delicate flavour of bacalhau was perfectly presented to the palate.
The wrapped Zucchini-smoked salmon and ricotta was a very unique entree. The smoked salmon took the lead with its beautifully fresh, melting and of course, Smokey taste. The soft zucchini wrapped around the piece, presented itself as a teaser for the softer and creamy ricotta on the interior.“

It can only become unpleasant if people at the next table are so unpleasant, because it is impossible not to hear them given the distance between the tables.“
