“It was here that I first discovered Lanzhou noodle soup, and it quickly became my favourite place to eat during the years I lived in Montreal from 2014 to 2018.

After leaving the city, I moved around quite a bit across Europe and the Americas. In each new place, one of the first things I’d do was search for the best Lanzhou noodle spot. Some of those bowls were excellent, but nothing ever matched what I remembered from Nouilles Lan Zhou.

When I finally returned to Montreal this summer for the first time since 2018, I came back here and ordered a bowl. After six years, I realised what I’d been missing. The flavour and texture blew me away all over again.

Thank you, Nouilles Lan Zhou, for serving me the best bowl of my favourite food. I can’t wait to visit Lanzhou itself someday to try the original, but this place will always be special to me.“

“I lived in China for 1.5 years and coming to this place threw me back there. This place is so genuine, and its flavors beat every pretentious competitor out there. Give this lovely couple a chance to take care of your palate. I had the Shanghai original spicy soup - tasty, comforting, and authentic. Great quality and quantity for the price. If you're super hungry, get a couple of items from the menu. It's still gonna be very cheap.
Oh, and the Chinese music is the ultimate touch.“

“Their dumplings with extra broth are delicious at a reasonable price, which is rare these days. I don't know of any other restaurant that offers this type of dumpling (but there may be some). Service friendly and fast, but I often show up after rush hour, it's rarely full even if it's It's still small. I try to eat there every time I'm in the Latin Quarter.“

“Ordered the combo meals for soup dumplings, chicken wonton soup, fried shrimp, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and honey yuzu tea. The sweet, hot tea is wonderful on a cold day. The soup dumplings are good, but the skin is slightly thick, in my opinion. Wonton soup broth and sour soup are quite good. Shrimp and egg rolls are just okay.

Parking: All about availability. We went during off peak season so it was easier to find parking.“

“Montrealers typically say: Go to Toronto for good Chinese food. I generally agree except for Dak Hing. Everything is authentic, delicious, and even better than the best that I've had across the GTA. It's obvious everything is thoughtfully and craftfully made when they source their meat from local farms. We have never been disappointed here. Their 芋頭糕 (taro cake) for the Lunar New Year is THE best. (We order in advance - they are so popular!) We enjoy their 粽 (zongzi) during the Dragonboat festival too. Dak Hing keeps me connected to my roots and I appreciate their hard work so much.“

“My friend and I were in the mood for Chinese Food and dined at Deer Garden.

The restaurant is clean, well- illuminated and basic in atmosphere.

We ordered Fried Spinach, Shrimp With Chinese Broccoli and Cantonese Fried Noodles.

The Fried Spinach was sugar- coated and brittle to the touch. It was good but an acquired taste.

The Shrimp with Chinese Broccoli was tasty, but the broccoli stalks did not need to be julienned at all. Still, well- flavored.

The Cantonese Fried Noodles had a very good proportion of sauce to noodles, with delicious vegetables covering the noodles. My favorite of the three ordered dishes.

Service was excellent.

“Best Chinese food restaurant in Montreal for Beef & Chinese broccoli; Cantonaise chow mein; Chicken fried rice; Sweet & sour pork; and Lemon chicken! Since coming from Vancouver I have been searching for a good, tasty restaurant and I'm so grateful I found this one. As soon as I walked in the door on New Years Eve at 7pm, I was warmly greeted. Without a reservation, I was still seated promptly and served water and tea instantly. The servers were kind, friendly, and super efficient. The food came out within a decent timeframe considering how busy it was. It was all truly delicious. We ate enough to be full at the dinner table and we both had enough to take-out for full meals later on. I also appreciated the freshly cut oranges at the end of meal. A sweet way to end a great time here.“

“One of the few high-end Chinese restaurants in Montreal! The food is authentic Szechuan, so be prepared for spicy food if you order from the special menu (it's worth it). I highly suggest reserving and pre-ordering the Peking duck, lobster, or Vancouver crab. Unlike many Chinese restaurants, service is excellent here. The free parking after 5 is also appreciated. Decor is casual-chic. And also unlike other Chinese restaurants, the place is spotlessly clean. I'm so glad Piment Rouge is back. It's a great place for a casual meal or a big celebration. “Very authentic. I ordered the sichuan fish soup which was very large in portion size and tasty. I also got the stir fry vegetables which was just delicious. I think their prices were reasonable for the portion size.

It was a lovely atmosphere where the child of the owner was present, though minding her own business behind the counter. I’m surprised I did not know of this place sooner. Definitely coming back.“

“Food - 5/5 - My partner and I ordered an array of dishes and everything was served Fresh & hot. Good value for the large portions you get. Food was delicious and hot the spot.
Service - 5/5 - Was promptly seated during the end of dinner rush. We got our food quickly. They helped us pack up the left overs and even provided plastic bags to wrap the containers so they don't leave, plus a small reusable bag to carry out multiple containers. Tea was provided. My partner, being of Chinese decent, was welcomed and asked if he spoke mandarin and the employees (maybe owner or related to owner) spoke with him.
Atmosphere - 4/5 - It isn't the fanciest place nor does it have much for decor but it has the vibe of a good Chinese restaurant.
Overall - 5/5 - I thoroughly enjoyed their food and service. Conveniently located in the heart of Chinatown & close to bus stops. I recommend giving them a visit if you are in Montreal and craving a good Chinese meal. With an expansive menu there should be items for all to enjoy.“
