“My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.“

“One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!“

Newly opened for 3 months, a place with modern and chic decor. All staff were courteous. Chef Mario Navarette jr, a very talented chef who came to our table a few times to inquire about our satisfaction, José the sommelier, Nève our waitress, Jeremy (Jeremias) the bar tender offered us impeccable service. All the dishes were worthy of mention. I highly recommend the tasting menu which costs around $120 a la carte, offered at only $69. The tuna, scallop ceviche, papa a la huancaina, octopus, duck breast and dessert were masterfully executed. A carefully curated wine list giving priority to Spanish wines. Do we recommend? “This is our 2nd time at Le Cartet. The waiter has such great memory and remembers our family. He is friendly and warm. We ordered Canton, Lac Brome and Nordique. All 3 dishes are excellent but Nordique stands out the most. I love the cream cheese spread and their choice of the smoke salmon. I love their coffee as well.“

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

Both experiences turned out to be excellent, however New Years stood out.
