The menu did not change at all since this summer though, so I think it is nice to experience, but it doesn’t offer much variety if you come multiple times. Had lunch 3 times in 3 different months and all 3 times it was the same menu. “My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.“

“One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!“

ITHQ has a nice location and staff was very welcoming.

The magret de canard was what you would expect of the dish. We had turbot with couscous and strawberries, which I found a bit too sofistaced. I think that real talent shows when you can work with a limited number of ingredients.

“Delicious high end French courses. We had this on Christmas Eve and the waiter was very kind and helpful. The head chef was very good at his craft of cooking and the entire restaurant was extremely cozy and the atmosphere was amazing with soft lit candles and relaxing music. “Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

“I visited Les Enfants Terribles during a recent trip, originally planning to come for brunch, but realized they only offer it on weekends. Even so, I decided to stay. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it a great spot whether you’re catching up with friends or just enjoying a casual night out.

The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Our server checked in at just the right moments, keeping everything running smoothly while still giving us space to enjoy the meal at our own pace.

One thing certain, the food quality & It was my first day in Montreal, and after hours of walking in the cold, I was starving. 😉 My friend and I searched for a good place to eat but ended up hesitating over a restaurant with mixed reviews. Still, once I saw the photos, my instincts told me it would be worth it. And as it turned out, I couldn’t have been more right.
Getting there, however, felt like a heroic journey. Finding parking was nearly impossible, and walking through Montreal’s winter chill was brutal. Yet we powered through — mostly thanks to my friend, the true foodie of the two of us. 😂
From the moment we stepped inside, the experience was unforgettable. This was hands down one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Their menu featured different seasonal meats — bison, deer, and even liver pâté made from another kind I couldn’t quite name. I’m no food expert, but trust me, it was incredible. We ordered escargot wrapped in a delicate pastry, duck liver, leg, and breast, plus lobster with rice. We finished about 90% of everything — a rare feat for us.
But what truly set this place apart was the people. There’s something magical about Montrealers. Maybe it’s the season or maybe it’s just who they are, but everyone carried this effortless grace — doing something magnificent with such casual charm. The customer service was impeccable. I’m not sure if the restaurant is family-run, but every staff member radiated warmth and sincerity, treating each guest like an old friend. They explained every dish with care, replaced plates promptly with warm ones, and arranged each utensil meticulously.
All evening, I felt like royalty. My gin cocktail sparkled with the perfect touch of gold, and soft classical music in the background gave the night a fairytale feel.
For the quality, the price — around $200 — felt more than fair. Watching how comfortably the regulars interacted with the staff, it almost seemed like they were dining in their own kitchen. That sense of intimacy and hospitality made the night even more special.
Truly, this restaurant deserves a gold medal — not just for its outstanding food, but for the kind of customer service that turns a meal into a memory.
