“My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.“

“One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!“

“Great food and atmosphere. Came in here during a long layover in the city. Had the smoked salmon bagel and an iced coffee, bill came out to $37.66CAD with out tip. Feel that’s pretty average given the area. Food was very good and i enjoy the open kitchen view. The coffee was also delicious, got the salted Carmel latte. Menu had French and English and the service was fast and kind. Great spot for a nice lunch.“

“Delicious high end French courses. We had this on Christmas Eve and the waiter was very kind and helpful. The head chef was very good at his craft of cooking and the entire restaurant was extremely cozy and the atmosphere was amazing with soft lit candles and relaxing music. We had the 5 course meal and the ingredients are all local and freshly made. The free bread was also very fresh. You could tell the chef spent a lot of work and time preparing the dishes. Food was good, wait staff was very patient and explained things in detail. Yes, they will make you buy food to occupy premium space. Thats a reasonable request, they have to make money. Yes, you should tip here, it is a nice restaurant.“

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“
